Welcome everyone to the official artist search for Maple Island Ponies! If you don't know what they are, information on the species can be found when following the links at the bottom of the page.

Anywho, I've decided that I'd like to take a few artists/guest artists/breeding artists for MIPs, and an artist search seemed the ideal way to find some staff at a more spaced out rate. This will be an ongoing search, and will end when I feel enough artists have been hired. If an artist chooses to leave the species or demand for ponies goes up, I will look for artists to meet the current demands. For now, I will evaluate the entries at the end of each month and announce any new artists at the beginning of the next month.

Please keep in mind, genetics are a big part of the species, and being an original artist or guest artist requires at least minimal knowledge of equine coat colour genetics. Breeding artists will need knowledge on genetic inheritance and must be able to use a punnet square to predict the genotype of offspring. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, being an artist for this species probably isn't for you. Now, onto some rules:

General Rules
-Do not remove my signature, ever
-Keep the 'Artist Search' banner at the top of your entries, so that trial designs will not be confused for official ponies
-If you do not wish to become an artist for Maple Island Ponies, DO NO COLOUR THESE LINES
-These lines are not to be used for the creation of custom pony designs
-Line edits are not allowed, but edits to shading are
-All designs must use only natural horse coat colours
-With each trial design, please post the pony's genotype for coat colour, horn colour, and horn type (template will be provided)
-Because this is a search and not a contest, I ask that you post here each time a new entry is made
-Trying out to be an official artist AND breeding artist is allowed, and will give you a total of 9 trial designs per month
-Cover pages with only "[username]'s entries" required, it helps me to find your entries more easily and track design progress
-Mention in your entry whether you are trying out to be an official artist, guest artist, or breeding artist

Official Artist Rules
-Those trying out to be official artists may post up to 5 trial designs per month
-Do not try out unless you are able to post at least one pony design every 2 weeks
-I'd like to see a wide variety of coats, both rare and common (colour frequencies are listed in the additional information on the adopt page)
-Official artists will be allowed up to 4 customs per year, which must be approved by me first

Guest Artist Rules
-Those trying out to be guest artists may post up to 3 designs per month
-Do not try out unless you will be able to post at least one pony design per week for the duration of your GA term
-I'd like to see a wide variety of coats, both rare and common (colour frequencies are listed in the additional information on the adopt page)
-A GA term will last between 1 and 3 months, and will start when the guest artist and species owner (myself) deems appropriate
-Guest artists will be allowed 1 custom each time they are welcomed as a guest artist, which must be approved by me first
-Guest artists can be promoted to official artists or breeding artists if they so wish and the criteria is met

Breeding Artist Rules
-'Couples' for those trying out to be breeding artists will be listed in the next post
-Those trying out to be breeding artists may post up to 4 tryout designs per month, and only one per couple per month
-Do no try out unless you will be able to take a minimum of 10 breedings per month
-Do not try out if you don't fully understand how genetic inheritance works
-Breeding artists will be allowed up to 4 customs per year, which must be approved by me first
