Stein is logical. He requires solid proof and support before agreeing or believing a statement or argument. He doesn't believe in things like spirits and ghosts and is easily an atheist. He is very rarely irrational and is only so when experiencing great negative emotions such as great anger, sadness, frustration, and the likes.

In most cases with living things, they end up getting dissected and put back together before he's done with his research. Stein is sadistic. He enjoys making others squirm and be uncomfortable. Stein may be sadistic, but he is not cruel. He doesn't inflict severe pain on others for his own enjoyment, and only damages others significantly in self-defense or the protection of others. The only beings exempted from his enjoyment are those close to him and that he cares about.

Stein is insane. His mind has faltered and shattered beneath year upon year of bullying, pressure and other mental and physical damage. Although may act relatively normal at first glance, as close as Stein can be to relatively normal, his thought process is distorted and chaotic and it's not uncommon to find him talking to himself at times. His insanity is most likely the stem of his sadism. Under pressure and stress, Stein tends to hear voices and hallucinate, but these are manageable when he is not stressed or pressured.

Stein is anti-social. He is not the biggest fan of morals and extremely dislikes acting out of character to please others for the sake of being "normal". He hates it when people tell him how to act and how to do things and almost always does it differently just to spite them. He has more than once acted unethically and lacks many morals himself.

Stein is lonely. He, even when surrounded by others, feels isolated and excluded. He is a little less lonely around others but still feels as if he is alone. He fears that someday, he'll realize his friendships were just a hallucination from his insanity and they would all disappear and leave him alone, to stop himself from getting hurt if that happens he pushes others who care for him away, further advancing his isolation and dark attitude.

Stein likes many things, and enjoys those with a passion. His favorite activities are experimenting, dissecting and reading. He mostly reads medical texts and other non-fiction tomes. He is a fan of the anatomy of all sorts of beings and even that of plants and he is extensively knowledgeable about the subject. He is obsessed with the practice of both medicine and science and there are even a few brave people who have visited him in the past for their injuries or illnesses knowing about his obsession on the topic of medicine. Stein adores his lab coat and his laboratory. His lab serves as a place where he sets the rules and may act as he wishes and his lab coat is something that has been with him through thick and thin, over time collecting its set of stitches from different occasions in which it had been damaged.

Stein also dislikes many things, and has good reason for disliking them. He dislikes taking tests as he considers them useless and dumb as some people may not be smart specifically in general but may excel in a minor skill or talent. He dislikes studying history as he believes people should learn from the past and move on to the present and future. He dislikes being away from his lab for long periods of time as he feels confined and controlled when far away from it. Adding on to that, he also dislikes morals and believes they are unintelligent and inefficient since many have thousands of different points of view and what may consider right may be another's wrong. He dislikes naivety and is always blunt with others, making sure they don't make false assumptions that will lead to false hopes. He dislikes naivety because he feels it is unfair that he must view the world as "the cold greedy monstrosity it is" in his own words, and others make it seem beautiful and fair. He absolutely hates being pitied as it makes him feel weak and out of control. He hates it that others look down on him and pity him, making it seem as if he is suffering one way or another, which he technically is, for not following their own way of life which should supposedly make someone happy.

Stein, like any other living being at even the weakest state of sanity, has fears of his own. Stein fears being a disappointment to those close to him, and thus being rejected by them. He strives to please those close to him at least sometimes, but often ends up disappointing them anyways in his strange, broken way of showing he cares by being eccentric and creepy. By extension of his previous fear, Stein fears rejection. He fears being rejected by his friends and anyone who even slightly resemble family. He fears asking for help for the chance that he would be denied assistance and often ends up struggling with whatever he needed help with. Stein fears falling, he hates the feeling of falling in every form and the feeling of his stomach sinking is much more unpleasant to him and most others. Stein fears isolation most of all. He fears being alone in which he could do something terrible to himself or another in a fit of stronger madness. He, already constantly lonely, even among friends, dislikes being alone for the fear that if they leave,
they won't come back.
