Since she was born in the countryside, Aether’s always felt like nature was a part of her; endless hours spent wandering the woods, meadows, and springs near and around her childhood home. Clad all in white feathers, veils and accessories, she’d set off into the wilderness time and time again, mincing lightly along animal-made paths only to arrive back home hours later just as spotless as she left.
Secret meadows, a sweet kiss at daybreak… Aether's an unrepentant romantic, and there's not much anybody is going to say to change her mind. She's been this way ever since she was a little girl. Sometimes, she can just lay back in the grass and pretend that any moment, her own perfect love will come floating in and whisk her away. She'd never admit this of course; she likes to keep that part of herself safely tucked away, and has just the mindset to do so. She's quite good at keeping her thoughts and actions in check, and in this way, can be almost certain that you only know what she wants you to know about her.
Knowing this, it's not surprising that Aether never seems to lose sight of her goals, no matter how small. It can even be said that, at times, she walks the fine line between dedication and obsession. But if you're one of the lucky few to have earned her friendship, you'll find nobody more loyal and caring; she won't leave you when you need her, even when the world feels like it's crumbling around her, and when the card house comes tumbling down, no matter how bleak the aftermath, she'll be the first one picking up the pieces and starting over, or urging you to do the same. For her, giving up is simply not an option.
Whenever she finds a day off though, relaxation comes as easy to Aether as breathing. Good friends and a day of unplanned randomness never cease to lift her spirits; wherever the wind takes them, fun and adventures will usually follow. She loves to look for pretty stones by the water, and even go splashing in as the friend she just slyly jettisoned for an unwilling swim vies a swift revenge. Hiking in the woods, camping... count her in. Antique stores, movies, dining... awesome. However, huge parties and rampant loud music just aren't her scene, so she'll commonly sit out the excitement if things get too crazy. She also enjoys her quiet time.

Aether was born in Drenthe, growing up with her brother and grandfather on a
large farm where he raised flowers. Tragically, her grandfather passed away when
she was 11, and, in the dark times that followed, the farm had to be sold. Derek,
her older brother by 9 years, eventually led her to the sea, where he decided the
best thing for them both was to leave their homeland, and the pain, behind.
By the time she was 15, they were in North America, immigrants to the states
looking for work and residence. Derek struggled to support the two of them while
Aether worked her way through high school, so she picked up any part time jobs
she could handle during the summer. At times, they wondered if they hadn't made
a terrible mistake.
Nowadays, though, things are quite better. They live apart; her brother a skilled
welder, she a florist at the local flower shop. And she's attending college; her fluency
in American English shedding light down many a bright path. Even though Dutch
is still more comfortable on her tongue, she can't say she misses the broken
communications that used to occur regularly since their ferry's arrival.
But even as she cheerfully prepares bouquets for the store's customers, she
can’t say she’s entirely content either. Her heart never stopped aching for the
Netherlands, and still some nights she’s woken from a sound sleep by her own
wistful memories. She still dreams that, just maybe, she'll find her way back someday.
Buy back her grandfather’s farmland, and restore the rich, endless fields of
Daffodils to as they had been, and as they were always meant to be.
