Grinning Hounds

The Species

African grinning hounds are named so because of their jaws, which hinge further back than usual canines. Males sport stiff manes, which are displayed as symbols of dominance, and females have long, silky fur on their tails which they use to clean dens. Coat coloration gets more diverse every year, but there are two general varieties of hounds: wild and domestic.

Welcome to our relaunch! I was pretty ashamed of the old lines, and they were difficult to navigate, so I did away with them. Now we're back~! As with most adoptables, if you'd like to own a grinning hound, find one that isn't owned and apply for it. We'll set some ground rules so that things go smoothly.

(1.) Please don't take credit for lines or designs.
(2.) Treat each other with respect; use kind language and handle disputes in a civil manner.
(3.) You may use designs of hounds you own, unless otherwise stated by a different staff artist. Give credit when it is due.
(4.) Have fun, and don't be afraid to ask questions!

Breeding Slots and Customs

To breed your grinning hound, you must first find a partner for him/her. If you are unable to find another hound to breed with, you may need to wait until the breeding pool opens up. (I will create a breeding pool once there are enough hounds in existence to do so. No hounds with owners will be pooled.)
Once you've found a partner and some slots are open, you can apply for a slot by filling out the form below and PM-ing it to me (this way the thread doesn't fill up). Each hound may only breed five times, so make sure you choose wisely! An African grinning hound usually only has a litter of two or three at a time, which will be split between the owners of the breeding pair. If a pup is left unclaimed, it will be put up for public adoption.
