"Hey, Keigan!"
The light furred wolf lifted his head and fought a low groan of annoyance and exasperation at the dark feathered form of the pheasant female as it scurried across the soft golden sand of the beach. Salt water lapped at the sand, retreating with a hiss only to lurch at the shore again with quiet aggression. He lifted a paw and shook it to free it of any sand before draping it over his vibrant eyes to hide them from the sun's powerful rays. Not her...please not her. I thought I left her back in the country. Keigan thought sadly until the scent of prairie grass and good ol' dirt filled his nostrils, the scrawny wolf lifting his head to look down at the pheasant with unusually dark fur. Her soft, innocent golden eyes stared up at him as she spread her little wings to reveal a creamy white plumage beneath, along with caramel and black spots that went just beneath her wings for cover. "Keigan, guess what I can do now!"
"Do I really have to?"
"Yes!"
Keigan nearly groaned in despair, his pierced ears flattening to his skull as he mused over what the little bird could possibly want from him. "You can fly now?"
"Yes! Yes, wanna see?"
Aaaand it's last week all over again.

A brief story about this doggie; His nose twitched as he snuffed at the pavement. He was close--he could sense it. Although he knew it wouldn't help, he cast a fleeting glance around the dripping, dark alleyway. All was silent.
"Hmph." He growled, his yellow eyes narrowing. She was here, he knew it! He took a cautious step forward, and beneath his paw something splintered with a crack, sending shivers down his spine. Looking down, he saw with a thrill of horror that it was a skull. In the pale moonlight the skulls dark sockets and loose jaw gaped hollowly at him, grinning in macabre humor. His hackles rose and he began backing away.
"And what do you think you're doing here?" A deep voice rumbled from above and behind him. He whirled around, staring up at the form of a giant beast with gleaming green eyes, pearly white fangs, and cruelly curved claws. He gulped.
That wasn't Reaper.
