Short story: Summer Wave, or Helix as he was known to some of the other horses where his mother and he lived together, was trotting along through the sands of the beach when he heard the cry and jerked his head up, nostrils flaring as he nickered and caught himself at it. He stopped a moment, before heading on and flickering his ears, eyes wide as he wondered if it was just a trap by that stallion from that one herd that lived down the beach from theirs, the stallion that wanted his mother for she was quite a beautiful thing. He shook his head as he continued on, coming upon a pretty little animal very much like a canine. He wondered what she was doing here, and she softly told him she was a Coydog and had been accidentally left by her people when she wandered off. Helix made a soft little sound as he nodded and asked "What's your name?" The little canine told him it was Rosita. Helix said "I'll bring you back to my mum, she and I can take you to the forest herd, they can probably help find your people." Nodding, Rosita went with him, and the next day her people were found. She never forgot Helix, and still comes to visit him to this day.

Other: Helix's mother was once tame, his father was wild and when he died she joined up with the ocean herd. The blue pendant is reminiscent of Helix's father, and alludes to his love of water.

Short story: It had been months since Tsunami last saw Helix. He was kind of missing his old friend now, and he got to actually wondering how the beach herd was doing. And then he heard, the sound of a storm coming. He tilted his head a little bit as he hoped and prayed that it was not coming from
over the ocean whose waves crashed against the shore where Helix lived with his family. He whinnied to his father whom looked at him then out towards where the beach was. When he saw his father's nod, he reared up a bit then raced a little behind the stallion towards the beach, to make sure they were all okay. When he saw the wave coming, he squealed a bit in fear and raced towards the herd. Father whinnied a warning about the wave, and they all moved further back into the caves, far enough back to be safe. Tsunami and Helix got to talking and catching up again.

Other: His father is leader of the herd. The pendant was given him by his mother whom was lead mare, she died when he was six months.
