What is a Velynn?
Velynns (pronounced [vehy-lynns]) are canine-like creatures most often known for their two soft tufts of feathers, one on their back between their shoulders, and one in place of their tails. The very first Velynns were created from particularly strong daydreams, thoughts, or ideas, and to this day those Velynns without parents come into existence through this same way. Being light and airy, much like thoughts and dreams, Velynns have been known to float. However, they never stop floating! A Velynn not held down will continue to float up and up forever, which doesn't often end well. Because of this, Velynns have always been given anchors of all colors to hang around their neck on a rope. This anchor allows them to walk and move normally on the ground, but it still allows them to levitate above the ground for short period of time, jump higher than normal, and seemingly drift around much more fluidly than any other similar species. If a Velynn was created from a particularly strong idea, it is not uncommon to see them surrounded with wisps of swirling, colored light, most often around their paws.
Welcome to the little artist search thread for the species Velynns, which can be found by clicking the "Click to View" link by "Based on" above.
This competition does not have a definite end date, but the end result is to hire somewhere around three artists and several guest artists for the species! The competition will just keep running, and I'll be choosing artists as it goes.
So, how do you enter?
Simply click on the "color this in" button, and you have total freedom! There are just a couple requirements for the contest. Please...
-Make at least 1 entry with no line edits
-Make at least 1 entry with line edits
-Do not remove the "not a real Velynn" note along the bottom
-Make interesting designs! They can be themed, completely original, whatever. The colors can be anything except for eye-blinding neons and such.
-Do not remove the anchor! It is needed for their species to survive, read the above for why.
-For bonus points, a "cover page" where I can find all of your entries is a huge help. It's not required, but will impress me somewhat. c:
-If you lose, you are not allowed to keep your entries! Sorry, but I can't have that many customs wandering about. :<
Prizes are, well, artist and guest artist spots!
You are not allowed to color this I for anything but the competition! This includes just coloring it in because you liked it, or making characters with this.
If I see this being edited for reasons not contest related, you have a chance of being banned from the contest and/or species!
Good luck to all, post any questions or concerns here. c:
