I'm a little picky when it comes to colors, but here's my advice: No neons.
Honestly, they burn my eyes, and I can't look at them, however, there are a few that aren't as mesmerizing. Just try to make your colors breezy, soft and airy, not too bright or burning. =3

Accessories are also great, just don't make them too small or big. c;
I like uniqueness and flair, pretty patterns, but not too complex, do you get my vibe?
I just want a pony who's easy to draw, simple but exciting. I'm not looking for one solid color, but a couple designs and a breezy mane would really add to your score!
And last, but certainly not least . . . .
Try making the colors go together, and use at least one neutral color. I love earthy tones as well as exciting, poppy and vibrant ones, so don't be shy! I have also become a bit interested in red and blue together, but please don't go overboard. c;
