Well, not sure how much horse/deer is in there, but I like how its working out so far.
I need your opinion, should it have wings or not? Ive added you so you can view all the sketches so far, The background also has multiple options.

Well, wings could be on a different layer, so you have the choice of taking them on and off. And this looks amazing, can't wait to see finished!

First things first, Love all the different layers :3 Though right now it does not feel quite as magical as i am looking for, Hopefully By the time your done you could add something little to give it that feel?((Or maybe its just the color its missing for that feel idk)) Love the male with its aggressive look by the way. For the wings maybe make them slightly smaller? Then see how they look.

Yeah, I am planning on making more 'Magical'. Im just trying to decide whether the species should have wings at all. If I make them any smaller then they wont be able to fly, (even these wings are probably too small for it) So if I made them any smaller I may as well not have them all together.

Wings don't need to be used to fly, They can be used to show off. Though whatever you decided to do with the wings i shall leave up to you.
