hello!! this is a contest to decide the first artist (besides myself) for my adoptable species, dokin!
unfamiliar with dokin? please check the link to the left!
♥how this will work♥
you will be allowed to design 2 dokin, to show me your designing capabilities!
the dokin wont be put up for adoption, and you can go wild with your design!
♥prizes♥
1st place; place as official artist for the adopts
if there is a/are runner up(s), they will either be given a place as an artist (if exceptionally good) or will be allowed to make 1-2 dokin as a guest artist
if i am able to keep up, all participants will receive a small pet prize! (like 2010-2013 omgsc to uncommon)

when you design and post your dokin, you must fill out this form for me (just once, if you make more than one design please link back to your first one)

>>please dont rush and spend 5 minutes on your entry, have a little pride in your work!

♥pointers for the to-be artist♥
>>i know life gets the best of us, and i know sometimes it can be hard to be active. i respect you as a person and if you're ever finding trouble keeping up, please don't worry!! ill be able to handle the bulk of the work and may recruit a guest artist or two to help fill in for you.
>>i will be willing to assign you a monthly quota if it helps to motivate you!
>>the only real payment i can offer are customs (and possible credits in a possible hypothetical store that might happen), but please dont apply just to get this privilege.
♥what you can do♥
>>make lineart edits that adhere to the species
>>make your own shading layer in your own style
>>add items/accessories
>>use premade palettes
>>make either an adult or baby, its up to you
♥technical junk♥
when you go to colour in the lineart, there will be a layer named brush settings (turnoff). this layer has the brush settings for the lineart written down, if you wish to make any lineart edits!
please note that unless you are very good at mimicking pen pressure, please only make lineart modifications if you have a tablet and a java tablet plugin (such as JTablet). it will make the end result a lot much more nicer!
to get the shading colour, turn the shading layer up to 100%, change it from multiply to normal, and then pick the colour from there
make sure to change the layer back to the original settings!
♥one last thing♥
the aim of dokin are to be charming while still keeping simple enough designs so people are able to draw them. please try not to go overboard with extremely complicated designs, i would like an artist who can pull off simplicity.
dont be afraid to keep things plain!
