Here's my entry for ninjabunnygrl's "Did you hear that?" contest. The moment I saw these lines I instantly thought of a scene with two of my OCs, Hakan (the brown one with orange mane) and Onawa (black appaloosa), walking through a meadow at night. So here's a little story to go along with the picture... just fine fun. Enjoy. ![Razz :P](./images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)

Hakan stopped suddenly and froze where he stood, ears twitching back and forth, muscles tense.
"What's wrong?" Onawa asked stopping next to him.
"Do you hear that?"
"Hear what? All I hear are the frogs down by the water."
"No, it's not the frogs. Listen beyond them... Can't you hear it?"
She tried to listen beyond the frog's noisy croaking but their singing was too loud, making it difficult to hear anything else. The constant chorus of them left her with a slight throbbing between her ears. She sighed and gave up.
"All I can hear is those noisy frogs, Hakan."
Hakan frowned and was silent, listening for a moment before speaking again.
"You can't hear that? That whispering sound?"
"No. I'm afraid I can't. Perhaps it's just the wind blowing in the grass?"
"Hm... I don't think so. There's hardly a breeze tonight," he said studying the landscape around them carefully.
He could see nothing but the shadowy figures of trees and hills off in the distance and the long grass and wildflowers that surrounded them for many miles in either direction. The light from the full moon cast harsh highlights on everything giving them a strange contrast next to the blackness of the shadows. Even though he saw no one else there he had a strange feeling that they were not alone and someone, or something, was watching them. He shivered.
"Let's move on..." he said softly, "I have a bad feeling about this place."
Onawa nodded, "Alright. These darn frogs are starting to give me a headache anyway."
Timer doesn't lie by much... And please keep your sticky paws to yourself, for both the characters and the story, k? Thanks. :3
