Welcome!
What is a Varys Draft Horse (VDH)?
These ancient equines were thought to have gone extinct with the fall of the Greek Empire. They were bred for plow work and special ceremonies, often involving pulling the emperor's chariot. Though none survived, we have re-created the breed's overall conformation and temperament. By crossing several popular draft breeds, such as the Belgian Draft and Percheron, and some lighter breeds, like the Oldenburg and Dutch Harness horse, a very close match to the old breed was born. They are now used for farm work and, more frequently, ceremonies and parades.
Features:
-Thick, muscled neck and sloped shoulders for pulling power
-Large-boned legs
-Hooves that have been recorded up to the size of a dinner plate
-Thin manes and tails (For ease of braiding/decorating)
-Calm and kind temperament, great with kids
-Can be any color, including paint patterns, roans, and dilutes
-Heights up to 20hh
Rules:
-No asking/begging to become an artist or helper
-You may suggest colors or new features
-You may claim the design as yours, but don't take credit for creating it, or the species
