Robin and Soot family picture!~

Postby puddssoul » Sat Jan 05, 2013 5:02 am

Yes, Robin and Soot with their three darling daughters. The little one on Robin's back is the eldest of her daughters, a little one that they adopted while staying in the humans' community for a while during the Christmas season. She was born on the mountain, but Robin found her wandering around during a snowstorm and took her back with her. Soot was hesitant to become a father, but Robin convinced him, and they adored their new daughter. She wandered off later to find her real parents (she found that her true mother had died giving birth to her, and her father had recklessly thrown himself off of the mountain in sorrow) but has now returned to the only parents she's ever really known. Her name is Blood Of The Rose (given to her by Robin) or Bethany, and she wears a tear-drop shaped necklace from her real father, although she has long since accepted that her home is with Robin and Soot, and they are her true parents, because they're the only ones who cared enough to truly protect her, care for her, and love her.

The little babe by Robin's stomach is their middle child, and their only blood-born child, Araxia. Her name means 'happiness'. While staying in the forest, trying to find their little Bethany, and shortly before adopting their third daughter, Araxia was born. Robin was so delighted with her, she barely knew what to do. She takes mostly after her father both in personality and looks, and is a bit more quiet than her two adopted sisters. She spends a lot of time with Bethany and looks up to her older sister a ton -- she wants to be just like her when she grows up. She's the best hunter of the group, having been born and raised in the forest, the skills seemed to come naturally to her. Araxia is also -- Robin claims because of her naming -- the happiest child of them all, always seeing the good in everything instead of the bad. She keeps everyone cheerful even when there's hardly anything to be cheerful about, and is a real daddy's girl, always staying close to Soot. She's a little shy, but mostly just hesitant.

The pup next to Soot is their youngest girl, another adopted pup (this time from the forest, not the mountain) named Celebration Commotion (or Candy or Cayla for short). Robin found her while out hunting, and couldn't help but bring her home after she realized that the child was parentless, and had no memories of any parents she might have ever met. She fits into the family like a glove, and doesn't wonder about her 'real' parents like Bethany did. In fact, as far as she's concerned, the only mother she's ever known is Robin. She doesn't enjoy hunting much, but is fascinated by wild herbs and plants that can be used for things like eating or healing. She also enjoys watching the wildlife and learning about them -- although she'd never hunt one, she could tell you exactly how to catch a bluejay by exploiting its weaknesses and what it likes. She's extremely intelligent, perhaps the smartest of the three, and sometimes gets quite sorrowful when she overthinks things, which is why she spends a lot of time with Araxia, so her sister can cheer her up. She's an old soul despite her young age.

It was a calm winter day, one when the wind had decided to take a break, so the cold air was not nearly so bitter. The sunlight shined prettily off of the piled-up white flakes, making the entire ground glitter like it was spun of white gold. In the middle of the thick, old forest, the family had taken shelter for the night in a small hollow where the closely packed trees provided shelter from the snow and freezing rain. A mother and father curled together protectively around three small pups as the children softly whispered and moved slightly in dreams. The mother's bi-colored eyes flashed open as an owl flew above them, letting out a lonely hoot. A predator! She was on her paws in an instant, and one warning glare, flashing her sharp teeth, sent the large bird flying away as fast as it could soar. Robin sighed and was about to return to the warmth of sleep beside her mate and daughters when she saw little Araxia wide awake, watching her mother curiously. When she saw her mother gazing at her, she yapped with delight and danced over to her, stepping and nearly tripping over her sisters in the process as she gleefully screeched, "Mama!" and all but tackled her. Knowing there was nothing she could do to stop everyone being woken up, Robin just smiled and chuckled as she lifted her middle daughter into her arms, snuggling her lovingly. "Good morning, Araxia," She murmured as the other little girls began to stirr, stretching out their limbs and letting their eyes peacefully flutter open. Her mate was already awake, she realized, had probably been as long as she had, since the owl had flown over. He saw her looking and flashed her a charming smile as he slowly stood, sniffing at the air.

"How's breakfast sound?" He asked, prowling toward her, his well-groomed pelt glittering like the snow. Robin sighed contentedly as her two other daughters rushed over to her, rubbing themselves against her legs like little cats and giggling amusedly as they bumped into each other, falling into the snow. They quickly jumped up and shook themselves off, shivering a little, but laughing. Araxia scrambled out of her mother's arms to join them in playing, tackling her oldest sister, Bethany, into the puffy white flakes, sending up a small blizzard into Candy's face as the younger girl blinked in shock, then tackled her as well. "Breakfast sounds amazing," Robin replied, kissing him fondly on the cheek as the girls played. "Why don't you take Araxia with you? I'm sure she could catch a thing or two, and I'll take Bethany and Candy out to see if we can't find some herbs or something to keep us busy while you're gone." "Sounds like a plan," Soot grinned as he kissed her back and gave her a wink. "Araxia!" He called, and immediately the middle daughter was at his side, sinking her claws through the snow into the dirt below, absolutely ready. She was the best hunter of the younglings, and dashed after her father as he ran into the forest, bouncing through the deeper snow like it was nothing, yet still struggling to keep up with her father's much longer legs. Robin giggled as she saw him slow down to let her catch up, and Araxia playfully nibbled at her father's heels, full of energy just begging to be spent. She watched them go until they were mere specks in the distance, and when she turned around, Bethany and Candy sat side-by-side, watching her expectantly, their wide eyes glittering.

"Let's go try to find some berries, okay, girls? You both know how much your father loves berries." Robin told them, and they both nodded in agreement. Before she could say another word they were bounding away, and she ran to keep up with them as they bounced towards the creek, knowing more plants would be surviving there. Their little paws set to work digging at the snow to reveal anything that had managed to live despite the cold and snow. It had been a mild winter, so hopefully something still thrived beneath the snow. The warmth of the water, warmed by the sun, kept the snow lower here, and a few green leaves popped out from the solid white. Robin started digging beside them, hearing the birds begin to chirp far above their heads. A feather dropped down and landed on Candy's snout, making her sneeze adorably. Then she snatched up the feather and took it to her mother, grinning as she set it in front of her and batted her long eyelashes. "For you, Mama!" Her youngest chirped adorably. "Oh, thank you, Candy, it's lovely," Robin replied, looking at the bright blue feather, then tucking it behind her ear. "How's that look?" "Pretty, Mama!" Candy retorted, then ran off to help her sister, who had nearly disappeared under all of the snow she had dug up. "Dig the other way, sweetie," Robin explained patiently, as Bethany shook herself off.

"It's not my snow," Bethany explained, wagging her tail from side to side to rid it of the heavy cold stuff, "It's Candy's. She still doesn't understand the whole don't-dig-on-me thing." Her voice was stopped with an, "Omph!" as another face-full of snow landed directly on her. Candy spun around to see the two of them and giggled, blushing as she whispered, "Ooopsie." "Be more careful with your sister, Candy, we don't want her getting sick," Robin reminded her, patting her affectionately on the head. Candy nodded eagerly and suddenly pulled something from the deep hole she had dug in the snow. "I found... mint!" She decided, sniffing tenderly at the leaves. Robin gave them a sniff as well, making sure, then nodded. "Good job, Candy." Candy giggled and snatched one up, chewing at it happily. Bethany added to the discovery with an only-slightly squished branch of mulberries that seemed to have fallen off of one of the overhanging trees before the snow started. Soon they returned for their main base with assorted plants and berries clutched carefully in their jaws, the girls bouncing along merrily, proud to have something to return with. When they reached the clearing, Araxia and Soot were already there, settling a little hollow into the snow to place the prey they had caught into. "Look!" Araxia squealed with delight as she showed off her catch to her siblings, "I caught a squirrel!" It was a wiry thing, but she held it as though it were a fattened deer, and her sisters gasped in appropriate surprise. Araxia was practically glowing with pride as she dropped it atop the large pile of prey her father had collected -- a few birds, another squirrel, a rabbit or two.

"Everyone eat up!" Soot crowed, selecting a rabbit for himself from the pile and settling down into a more sunny spot in the snow to eat. Robin grabbed Araxia's squirrel -- squirrels were her favorite, and she saw how her daughter wanted someone to enjoy it -- and settled down beside him, while the girls all stayed near the pile, chattering about their catches while savoring bites of fresh-kill and berries. Robin sighed contentedly and leaned her head against her mate's shoulder, grinning up at him. Soot grinned back, the tips of his teeth stained red from the successful hunt. They watched in amusement as the girls began to squabble playfully over which was more tasty: bluejay, or mulberries. "Pfffttt." Soot blew air through his teeth and rolled his eyes teasingly as he said, "Obviously it's mulberries." The girls paused, then went straight back into yapping about it.

"Can every day be like this?" Robin whispered to herself, feeling the warmth of the sunlight landing on her fur, warming her from the inside out. Or maybe that was just the fuzzy feeling she got from watching her daughters play with each other so happily. "Of course it can." Soot replied with a laugh, nuzzling her warmly. Seeing the two of them cuddling, the three exhausted girls bounded over and landed on their parents playfully, snuggling into them and immediately falling into a deep, peaceful slumber. It wasn't long before Soot and Robin fell asleep as well.
