The design for this dragon is based on the appearance of some water salamanders, which have a belly that look like the sky and a back that looks like the floor of the lake or stream they live in. But unlike the salamanders who use this type of camoflage to avoid being eaten this dragon uses it to sneak up on its prey, and is known to leap out of the water at low-flying birds and dive quickly under at schools of fish.
