A brilliant beginning, Royal! the sketchy-ness gives a certain feeling of confusion and misorder, which brings out your idea brilliantly. The color scheme itself is simple, yet you made the colors work for each other perfectly. What I'd recommend is play around with lock alpha a bit for keeping in the lines, and perhaps use a more off-red for scars for a natural feel. Smudging in the slightest on designs makes them blend and feel like part of the fur, too. Try smudging the scars a tiny bit to see what I mean. Other than those tips, all I can say is keep working at the amazing potential your original designs are promising!
