1. Let's look at the pose first.

Cats are relaxed creatures, they stalk silently unlike canines, therefore they have a slightly "slouched" posture. They aslo have plenty of fur on their underbelly. Knowing this it's easy to chose a pose!

2. Let's look at the legs.

Cat's, being silent hunters, need thicker legs so they can silently stalk prey, and pounce on it at the last minute!

3. Let's look at the ears

Cat's ears fold back like many other mammals. A clever way to show this is by;

Happy: Ears up, pointing in different directions or at the "camera", or ears relaxed down, draw them on a slant.
Sad: Ears down, not relaxed, put them on a slight downward angle, if ears up, try focusing them on something else.
Angry: Ears lay flat.
