Personality: Quiet and internal. Extremely loyal but first you have to earn it. He is very powerful, strong, and hard to read. He prefers to keep to himself because the only creature he could trust is gone. Has a hard time staying in any one place for long periods of time, and you can most commonly find him on cliff edges or other such places with picturesque views.
History: Kip was born a dark pup, his feathered plumes unnaturally black. The splashes of his mothers' purple and the burnt gold brands from his father could not disguise the fact that there was a darkness within him that spoke through his bleak design. Other cubs were afraid of his dusky pelt and he quickly learned that the only unfailingly constant companion in the world was solitude. Until he met Sash. Her fiery red coat, so out of place like his muted feathers drew him towards her like a moth towards candlelight. In her he saw a kinship that he could not share with anyone else, and she saw in him a love that needed awakening. Kip and Sash became inseparable, and as they grew their love for each other blossomed and strengthened. For once in his dreary life Kip had found a companion, he had found life, and he had found a happiness that he'd never thought existed. But Sash's coat, unlike Kip's plumage, was not considered undesirable by others of their kind. Many of the male Nysts' were also attracted to Sash's shining fur, sunny attitude, childish games and easygoing nature. They courted her, flaring their beautiful and brightly colored array of feathers whenever they were near her. Although Sash stayed true to Kip, he knew that it was causing her family pain to see her refuse possible mate after possible mate, and knew that their pain was hurting Sash in return. Kip was bigger and stronger than all the males, but even his strength and dark handsomeness could not prove himself worthy to her father. Kip knew it was not fair to keep Sash from the undoubtedly better life she would live with one of the other males. So he fled. He waited for nightfall, and for Sash's breathing to become deep with blissful sleep. Then he lifted himself from beside her slumbering figure. Even in the darkness of their cave her blazing coat was luminous, emitting an almost halo around her. He pressed his nose into her fur and inhaled her sweet scent for the last time. Then he turned and ran, too cowardly to face her in the daytime, when her brilliant blue eyes would be fixed on his and melt away his resolve. He ran and ran, never stopping, trying to get as far away as he could before sunshine could break through the clouds and reveal him for the shamed creature he was. And he needed to be far away, because if she found him, she'd tell him to come back and he would, without thinking twice about it. On and on, until his paws were ripped and bleeding, their crimson sheen only a painful reminder of the love he had lost. When Kip stopped, it was only because his legs could carry him no further, and he dropped to the ground. But before he slept, he raised his nose into the air and howled, one long, piercing note filled with grief and pain, filled with the agony of his heart as it slowly shattered. Then he fell back down, and slept.
