This species lives in the cold waters off the coast of Antarctica. They are very good swimmers beccause of their webbed feet and water proof fur. They have wing like fins on their back, legs, and head. These help propel the creature forward in the water. They also can be used to glide for short distances, although they rarely do so. They normally spend all day in the water and sleep in burrows under the arctic ice at night. They build their burrows from the bottom of the ice making them only accesable if you swim up underneath. These creatures are carnivorous, so they only eat meat. Krill, fish, and any meat they can get ahold of. Some times even the unfortunate artic explorer (noooooooo!! XD).
They always have a dark base coat, with a white underbelly and blue markings. If they have any other colored markings, they get cast out of the group and are left to fend for themselves. Their tail is always striped so that the young can easily spot their mother in the ocean depths. Most babies stay in their parents den for about a year, if they stay any longer, the parents can "forget" that they are their children and hurt them or even eat them! Once they find a mate, they stay together for life. Most babies are born in the summer, when it isn't AS cold as it usually is. Babies born any other time of year tend to have illnesses and not live as long. Normally, they live for an average of 25 years before they swim to the bottom of the ocean and burst into blue "flames" (oh noes! Im old! BOOM!
