✦ All Hazelnut Squirrels hatch from a hazelnut, the squirrels are hard to find since so many are eaten as hazelnuts.
✦ Most squirrels are coloured with 3 different colours. Plain-coloured and two-coloured Hazelnuts are super rare and almost impossible to find.
✦ They can have almost any patterning.
✦ Hazelnut squirrels are rarely dark coloured, it is not unusual however to see one with dark markings on a lighter pelt.
✦ Hazelnut Squirrels eat:
•Most fruits, except for berries and melons.
•Some vegetables, mostly carrots and lettuce.
•Any type of nut, except for hazelnut. Hazelnut squirrels love to try different and foreign nuts from around the world.
•Ladybugs, the only insect they will eat, they love the crunch it makes when they bite down on the shell.
•Flowers, usually when it comes around winter time, Hazelnut Squirrels will collect flowers instead of their normal diet. It usually gets extremely hard to find fruit and vegetables around Winter, so flowers are their substitute.
✦ Hazelnut squirrels do not hibernate! There is no known explanation for this, they do not go through hibernation, however they do still stock supplies for the winter.
✦ Hazelnut squirrels need daily grooming. Because their fur is so thin, it easily gets matted and dirty, a good brushing should do the trick, don't ever try to bath a Hazelnut squirrel, you will never be forgiven.
✦Young squirrels will stay with their mother for around 4 months. The first of the four months, the mother will come into heat again, allowing for a new set of young. They may breed up to 3 times a year.
✦ Hazelnut Squirrels mate for life. The male tends to attract the female with a grand display of his magnificent tail, fluffing it out, wiggling it from side to side etc.
✦Mothers will attach their hazelnut eggs to their tails, usually with spider's silk, carrying them around to protect them.
✦The young are extremely inquisitive, and will get into any situation easily, thankfully the habit usually grows out as they get older.
✦A Hazelnut Squirrel's legs are a lot longer than a normal squirrel, they can scale long distances on foot quite easily compared to tree jumping. Their tail is also quite longer than normal.
✦Some Hazelnut Squirrels will develop a syndrome called 'Little legs' or 'Double L' for short, this affects the growth of the squirrel, usually at a young age, completely stopping its ageing with a young forever effect. They cannot breed, and will remain as either a child or teen for the rest of their life.
✦ Power is an extremely rare event in Hazelnut Squirrels, it will never be adopted out normally. There are currently no Squirrels labeled with 'Supernatural' in existence.
✦ Defects are uncommon, but not unheard of in the squirrels, the most common defects are shortened/stubbed tails, no ears and long or no claws. Wings will never be found on a hazelnut squirrel. They do not glow either.
