Shadow froze, his muscles going tight. Rachael jumped away from Shadow and stared at the brute "Father!" she cried. The brute snarled at Rachael. Rachael do you ever do what you're told!? I told you to be back before it got dark, and you're here with... him!" he shook his head angrily and ran forward to get his daughter. Shadow leapt in front of Rachael. "Rachael is staying here as long as she wants to!" his snarl matched Rachael's fathers. "Shadow stop..." she whispered quietly. Shadow flicked his tail at Rachael to silence her. The brute circled Shadow "I'll kill you no problem. I have no problem with your blood on my paws! It'd be the best thing for all the packs!" the brute lunged at Shadow landing on top of him. Rachael gasped sounding horrified, but this was what Shadow wanted. He scratched his claws down the brute. The brute recoiled in pain and sprang off Shadow. He gasped for breath and was bleeding heavily. Shadow looked alarmed "Oh Rachael, I didn't mean to... I'm sorry!" he whispered. Rachael closed her eyes and sighed "Shadow... I have to go now..." she whispered quietly as she helped her father walk back to their camp. Shadow stared after the two wolves. 'It's not my fault...' he thought sadly. He kicked a large stone with his paw. Tomorrow he would kidnap Rachael. He didn't care anymore, he had to tell Rachael how he felt. Shadow sighed and trotted off to his makeshift den.
