People do still trade a decent amount for them, it just depends on the person.
For example, I was traded a Lion Mane for my yellow long wrist, and I traded that Lion Mane for a Neon Bow and betas.

You can trade art and characters for AJ items, the only requirement is that you conduct your discussion about the trade within AJ itself or through some other means, and not here on the forums.
