When you develop characters, when you buy them or make them, when do you start thinking of their backstory/development? When you see the or when you buy them?
I generally try to at least get some sort of personality/character ideas down right when I get them.

Who are some character designers you admire? If you have time, explain why!
mmmmmm definitely meritferret, zacharie~, and nyako
with Meritferret, her designs are always extremely unique, with ideas that get stretched into something that is
really far over what most people can imagine.
Zacharie~ has amazing choices of color pallets, and each of their designs are smooth and very well planned out. there isn't
any design from them that I can recall that wasn't appealing to look at.
Nyako has really creative designs and a plethera of gorgeous color pallets. while their designs don't consist of many layers of
markings, the simplicity of them is stunning.

Who do you admire as a character owner? Tell why too, if you can.
mmm definitely both my sisters, Evils and Karkat Vantas ♋, they take amazing care of ALL their characters, online and

1) How do you feel about "Impress Me" contests for characters?
i LOVE these contests!
if i'm entering them {judging them is a bit of a pain but you know}
2) Any tips for someone who really isn't the best at this sort of contest?
always focus on character development, BUT remember to NOT go off topic with what you are typing!
keep each area filled with everything that needs to be said, and leave out any unwanted information. NEVER EVER
use gary/mary sue character ideas or unoriginal personalities etc. as those normally are major turn offs
to judges. making the character feel life like is your best road to choose!
3) What are the most important things to have on a form?
name, personality, and history in my opinion.
and, if the contest allows it, visual aids like art etc.

What do you look for in characters, do some bright colors look good on characters?
if you've seen my characters, you'll know that I have the weirdest list of likes in the world. they're all over the place
and really inconsistent xD
but i mainly look for designs with the colors pink, orange, and blue bc why not.
and YES there are many bright colors that look good on characters! it all really just depends on what the rest of the design is, though

What was your first character and do you still have them?
oh gosh xD
my first character EVER was a dalmatian named Buddy, he was white with really light yellow spots and
pink hair with white stripes in it. if i remember correctly he had light blue eyes and a blue nose + pawpads?
I have NEVER drawn him online and the pictures i had of him offline are lost in my boxes : ( I do still own him though, and
plan to draw him sometime in the future as i very much still love him! /note i made him when i was like, 3/

a very stubborn, yet extremely shy and cowardly man. he isn't much one for social interaction
and spends most of his time away from any civilization, and far from any outlet of food, etc. he is super
sweet however, and would hate himself if he accidentally hurt anyone.

probably his nervousness around others, as that really hits me on a personal scale

yes, actually. he was made when i still had my best friend as, well, my best friend. me and her would draw scurvy
and their characters together, talk about them, and sometimes larp/rp as them. all my great memories with her
are trapped in him. and i lost their friendship just the next year due to her friends not wanting to hang around me,
so she left me.
i still miss her, i do see her every now and then, but we aren't as close as we used to be and it hurts me to admit that aha.
whenever I am missing her company I draw scurvy, like, a lot. more than i should. whenever i draw him it reminds me
of hanging out with her and all the fun we've had.

After you've revamped a character's design, what do you do with all of the artwork of that character's old design?
keep it.
i rarely ever revamp characters for that reason, but i'd still use the other art.
