Short story :[ 500 words or less ] (first person perspective) when I was younger I'd always run ahead of my mother when we went outside our cave, My mother was very timid, she did not like going outside, She always told me stories about how evil and cruel the world was, But I didn't believe her, And I didn't want to. She says my pelt is the way it is, dark, and shining when we're back in our cave, due to how long she's been underground, and because the cave is special. Whenever I ran ahead on those rare occassions we went outside everything was well, the world was beautiful, Trees as high as the sky, birds trying to reach into space, Flowers with their beautiful smell!
But one day I ran too far ahead, And I ran into a ferocious beast, It was brown and massive, Bulky and furry, foaming at its mouth with its sharp claws unsheated, it growled at me and stood up on its hind legs unleashing a fury of swipes to which I had fallen. I was never the same after that day.
