Look at this video. A while back, people hated on me because darkstripe was my favourite character. But, if you wait until 1:58, you will see that darkstripe was not a bad cat.

SPOILERS FOR FIRST ARC
Personally, Darkstripe is one of my least favorites, but I can totally see why people like him. Him and Ivypool both are probably the most hated/most liked characters in the series and both have a very interesting, and very similar, plot. If you really dig into it Darkstripe would be an amazing character given more development. However, I stand by my point that Darkstripe was a "bad cat", not all bad but a generally negative influence to the main characters, mostly being Firestar??? I suppose that you could use the same logic of why Ivypool is innocent to say he's innocent. The main difference between the two is that after the fact- the Great Battle or Tigerstar's death- Ivy apologized while Darkstripe just attempted to cause more harm (battle of bloodclan).
Darkstripe is a villain, but he's a very interesting one at that and it would make sense to like him.

That's actually a good point. Darkstripe was yes, a villain, but he wasn't actually 'bad' so to speak.

Yes, Darkstripe has been through a lot, and I agree that he is considered a villain.

SPOILERS FOR THE 3RD AND 4TH ARC!!

Ivypool is a lot like Hollyleaf or Breezepelt, they all have one thing in common, Being unwanted or left out in something. Hollyleaf did not become on of the three, causing depression. Ivypool went to train in the dark forest because she thought she was weak and unloved because of Dovewing. Breezepelt was neglected by his father because his father never loved his mother, causing deep anger towards the three and Leafpool. All of them however have become favorites for a lot of fans.

I personally didn't like Darkstripe that much, but at times I did slightly feel bad. I always felt that he regretted staying in thunderclan instead of joining tigerstar
But I think that if Darkstripe could be more developed he could be even more interesting!
