Have you ever noticed that sometimes Toothless' shot limit matters, and other times it doesn't?
Like in some battles I swear he fires off at /least/ 10 times, and in others Hiccup has to keep count to 6.
And it seems like the other rides never keep track or have to either.
An Enemy dragon? They might keep count, but it seems kind of OP for them to skip out on the Shot limit deal, ya'know?
(Especially since it was part of the Development montage from the first movie)

I have noticed that, and in the bonus features for Riders of Berk Season 1 Part 1, it's a about the dragon, Gobber says that the Night-Fury only has three shots, and yet Toothless just keeps firing shot after shot after shot

{then Gobber says that he's going to go check the book again}

Toothless has 6 shots.
I heard him count it out in one of the new episodes.

Are you talking about"The Book of Dragons" Mini Episode? I'll need to watch that again.
I'm pretty sure Barf and Belch also have a 6 shot limit; if I recall right from the Episode where They're at the "school" and Hiccup is quizzing them (I can't remember the name of it xD).

EDIT:
I take that back, he didn't count it out, but he did state that Toothless was out.
Also, I've notice the Re-gen time for shots is varied. Sometimes Toothless can go again in a minute, sometimes he's out till the end of the episode.

I'm pretty sure it was a bonus feature, because I watched it over and over when I used the DVD but when I moved them to iTunes and started using Apple TV to watch them, I never watched it again, so it's on one of the following DVDs:
HTTYD, Riders of Berk Disk 1, Riders of Berk Disk 2, Defenders of Berk Disk 1, or Defenders of Berk Disk 2.
