@arcturus That's perfectly fine! I suppose Lynn let her guard down in her rare excitement...
Unfortunately I won't be able to post a full answer until the weekend due to exams, so I hope this is alright.

══════════════════════════════════════════════════
AUGUST CAIN
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ the Blood Magician
══════════════════════════════════════════════════
Date of Birth around November 1866 in London, currently 24
Gender Male
Species Human, with all human vulnerabilities and strengths.
Talents August is able to wield magic - and the Darklings know what kind of magic this is. It all began when his house burned down when he was six, killing him and his family. He was revived by a crackpot necromancer who goes by the name Ellsworth, rumored to be at the scene of the fire, and was forced to make a deal with a demon that bound magic to his blood in exchange for his soul and the soul of all his descendants. Blood magic is a cunning force that permits extremely powerful magic in exchange for part of the caster's lifespan. It makes them physically weak and fatigued: August in particular is prone to asthmatic fits and showing up splattered in blood.

Appearance A tall, pale man with dark red hair combed haphazardly across his face and light blue eyes. August dresses with normal middle-class fare, perhaps in a slightly more rumpled state than one would expect. Also, contrary to expectations, he does not carry a wand except for show (in which case he uses a slender hickory wand with his initials carved in). He changes his appearance if needed when conducting investigations. August isn't particularly fit, but is tall, and has been described with somewhat elfish features.
Sexual Orientation Demiromantic bisexual
Occupation A self-employed private eye who lives off sporadic earnings from cases, the charity of his former customers, and a dusty little bookstore that doubles as his living quarters and office. It's on the more rough and tumble side of London, where some of the supernatural like to prowl at night. It is run by a young clerk with August's trust and caters to both human and supernatural alike.
Abilities August's blood magic has earned him a reputation he does not want to grow any time soon for the sake of his livelihood. It enables him to cast all sorts of spells from those of healing to those of harm and illusion, but for reasons that may be obvious, he avoids strong, and if possible, all magic unless absolutely necessary. He is especially skilled in illusions, which he finds the least taxing. It makes him a formidable opponent. Outside of magic, August has his sharp perception and ability to draw others towards him in a strange manner. Though he is weak, his reflexes and instincts has also kept him alive.
Weaknesses All human weaknesses apply to August, at least the physical ones. He can be killed, for instance, by a knife stab in just the right place, by being sucked dry by a vampire or sliced open by a werewolf, etc. His physical weakness is furthered by his magic, which at times may put strain on him, and usually causes light to moderate fatigue that results in him being a poor sport in any sort of physical exercise. August is also extremely defensive of loved ones, is sensitive about his past, and despises the supernatural to an extreme that, if pushed all the way, may severely mar his judgement.
Personality If given the choice, August would have willingly lived a regular life, followed in the footsteps of his father to become a physician, marry and have a family. He is not concerned with fame or money despite recognizing their worth, and is at heart a quiet, thinking, kind person. His perception is one thing that has strengthened since his revival from the realms of death. A certain curiosity and melancholy lies over his entire person. He does not know, or perhaps does not wish to know, that it is the quiet fire that burns inside him that, perhaps, attracts certain people to him. August often ponders self-worth, and does not consider himself a leader in any way. Though he is now independent and possessing of a kind and open smile (so it appears), there is much he still questions about himself, especially, why he is still alive. Currently he has no affiliations whatsoever with Scotland Yard and desires none. Besides this, August is a quirky individual that is known for going on eccentric adventures or trips when the inspiration or mood strikes him. He often reads many 'classics' and keeps some books on medicine as homage to his late father.

Hello everyone! You all've probably seen that I recently joined this roleplay with August there :) I'm up for any talk about starting and furthering the plot you already have running here! It seems that things are centered right now around Dr. Stone's party. In any case, I just wanted to introduce myself a bit XD You can call me whatever you'd like.
“Why do you go away? So that you can come back.
So that you can see the place you came from with
new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see
you differently, too. Coming back to where you started
is not the same as never leaving.”

Absolutely! Especially since some of the other roleplayers have seemingly halted. Anyway, you mentioned that August is a sort of freelance private detective, whereas my character William works for the Scotland Yard. I think it would be an interesting contrast, especially if they had to work together. I could just restart him as working or encountering August. He could be investigating the cases of murder caused by the vampires if that would suit your fancy, besides that will be an issue at the party very soon C:

Nice to meet everyone, too
Arcturus, that sounds good
It will be a fun contrast to play out I think, especially regarding August's relationship with the whole supernatural world and William's obliviousness to it. Would you rather have them start outside the party (such as in a store, or on the streets) and wind up there when something big happens, or in the party itself?

I think that if they were at the party, they will be first on the scene of the vampire victims once Severin and Estelle are done. Still, I think they should start outside of the party and once something big happens, head there to see it. That way we can better establish the relationship between the two characters before they have to deal with anything.
