Hey, fam. I don't know if this is the right place. Maybe I'm too hardcore but y'all are talking about a few bands I like. I see A7x and SOAD have been mentioned recently. My boys. I listen to a lot of metal. Infant Annihilator, Chelsea Grin, Impending Doom, Whitechapel, Annotations of an Autopsy ,Pig Destroyer, Slipknot, AFI. Stuff like that.
I also see bass has been mentioned a lot. I played bass in high school and now I teach it to junior high kids. I'm looking into buying a five-string bass. Not really sure what model to get. I play with a black metal band (we sound like Enterprise Earth or Carnifex) sometimes so I kinda want one that'll fit in with that but then I'm also attracted to cute pastel glittery ones so I'm at a huge dilemma.

Back from the dead to check on my club. XD

Sorry I haven't been paying as much attention to this thread as I should be. My companion who also helps me mod it is MIA as well. But, I'm back now and will resume frequenting this thread as normal my friends. Glad to see the recent discussion revolves around basses for the moment, because I myself have been a bass player for a number of years now. Of all the many different instruments I play, the bass is still my favorite, and the second one I ever learned. I'm planning on getting another band together since my last one broke up, and we will hopefully be doing all different styles of metal. I personally really want to reflect the styles of bands like System of a Down, Alter Bridge, and Nine Inch Nails. They all kind of have similar sounds to me, or at least give off a similar vibe. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but when I think of similarities between metal bands, those three are always some of the first I put together depending on the songs.

Hiiiiiii

Might have caught me at the wrong moment...? Because I've been listening to mostly Soundgarden and Pearl Jam lately aahahah
Older stuff of theirs, mind you; I'm not planning to buy any of PJ's stuff after Yield. I have everything up to and including Yield so no more PJ for me unless I decide to buy copies of No Code that have the polaroids in them

In other news, I got my hands on a tape/record player, and a bass and another guitar! I got an epiphone Thunderbird just after Christmas and a blue Ibanez thing after my birthday. And CDs, lots of CDs. I've got that many I've filled the entire stand I got (I think it holds 50) and have nowhere to put the rest! I have some Metallica records too, mostly singles but I have Load and Garage Days Re-revisited too

Why'd this thread die while I was gone?
I'ma just bump this.

Unfortunately my recent surgery did not work to restore my sight. I haven't given up. I go back for surgery either later this summer or this fall.

The artwork in my signature was a gift from my dear friend ~Griffin. She only has a PC mouse to work with, but even though I can't see it (yet), I'm sure it looks just as good as anything digital. :)

I share computers with my roommate ~Griffin. We don't trade unfairly, and we obey CS rules. She and my other roommate help me navigate around the site, and read things to me and such, but she does not control my account, and neither does the other. Please don't ban me, or her. :)

I was wondering why this died too. ;)

Though I'm still the Disturbed fan you may know me as, I'm seriously obsessed with System of a Down right now. Favorite song is probably Roulette.

I've got my first performance tomorrow (just a little recital, but still). I can play 6 songs all the way through on bass now. I'll be playing a medley ; the verse of Disturbed's Overburdened as an intro, SOAD's Spiders, and then I'll end with the intro to SOAD's Mr. Jack.

The fact you're playing Spiders and Mr Jack together reminded me of the fact that I think they would sound good mashed up with Empty Walls by Serj Tankian; I can't do it myself though because I don't have Elect The Dead or any programs for editing sound q: Oh well

...I've started buying records now, along with CDs. I bought three Pearl Jam reissues and a Soundgarden reissue, and I got £25 worth of vouchers for the record shop by designing a crest for my ATC squadron so I'll be buying another this weekend. I can't really listen to them because the speakers for the record player are broken and there's something wrong with the headphone plug so I can't use headphones or plug it into a guitar amp without it sounding funny. I tried listening to my Louder Than Love with headphones after I got it but no matter where I turned the balance knob there was either a guitar part or the vocals missing so I gave up after a few songs...

I've not actually been playing much of my bass lately, I had a go of a couple of songs last week but it's been mostly guitar I've been playing. I've been hunting for Soundgarden tabs online and I've been learning songs off Superunknown because I love all the weird tunings. I learned Limo Wreck, that one's tuned to CGDGBE if I remember correctly (1/3 drop C, 2/3 standard), and it's one of my favourite songs off the record. I tried to find tabs for Redemption City by Corrosion Of Conformity but I had no luck, which is a shame for me because I really like that song. I learned a few Alice In Chains songs as well, I can play What The Hell Have I, Man In The Box and Would? pretty much ok :D

Oh my god, I am so happy I found this thread. It always makes me so happy to find other people who share enthusiasm for the same music I listen to, it just brightens my day and I feel like I found a whole bunch of new friends. c:
