My theory is that it makes it easier for newer users to know how old a pet traditionally is. Listing days gives you an accurate approximate, but listing the month and year gives more information and it helps a ton for newer users. It was a nice change in my opinion, and I thank Nick for it.

The new date system seems like a huge improvement to me.
I think it will be convenient for people, especially new members and/or young ones.
Much easier and faster, no more "ok if this is 1875 days old it's from... when again?" guessing games about exactly how old a pet is.
I'll admit that I would have found the age-in-days system very frustrating if it weren't for the fact that I remember release dates anyway. So I strongly approve of this, it's very helpful.
EDIT: Ido have a question, though, and would love to know if people could confirm/deny:
Do pets that were released over several months (extended release pets, event pets, store pets) and re-release pets get assigned the month and year they were adopted in, or are all pets sorted by their original/first release date?
Someone was able to confirm for me that pets are still sorted by adoption date only.

You must have mistaken the timer message for the limit.
The timer now includes messages such as "within 4 hours", but the limit is still at 3 hours between adoptions c:

I find the new date system really nice!
No more guessing "What year/month is it from?" again!

I think that the new date system is a lot better, and I also love the pound being open more often now! Thanks so much for the changes!
