Ok, so I'm going to a summer camp thing tommorow to Wednesday night. I usually can't get much sleep and we are supposed to get sleep really early ( for me at least ) and I want to have a character to draw and spoil when I'm bored. Most likely a canine, dragon, reptile, or any bird or forest animal ( goats are loved )

I decided to name this guy Havardr, which means "highest guardian" in Old Norse. There were a ton of other names I could have given him, but I thought this suited him the most with how I imagined his personality and history to be.

Havardr is a seasoned warrior/fighter who used to live in a pack, but is currently wandering as a loner due to certain circumstances and incidents which happened to his birth pack.

What is your inspiration for giving a character its name? (personality, history, design, species, etc.)
I usually think about the character's personality and backstory before giving it a name. Language of origin, meaning of name, even the length of the name I choose for a character are all heavily dependent on the character's personality and backstory.

How do you decide on a name for a character?
I don't have a specific way in which I decide a character's name, but other than the criteria I mentioned above, I guess I just give them names based on feel? Like, I would try to think of the character as [name] for a short period of time, before deciding whether or not the name fits.
