That had been a fairly obvious reaction from her on that one, and his tail tip flicked lightly as he took note of the small victory. He'd take them where he could get them, given that he was really kind of... winging this right now. He had absolutely no clue where he was going with this. "You say that, my dear Petal, presumably to catch me off guard," he noted with a slightly mischievous grin, "but I, however, do not recall you ever denying that you would have become jealous, were I to flirt with another she-cat. What should I take from that, I wonder?"

silently cursing, she wills herself to keep her composure, which proved to be rather difficult in this sort of situation. he was probably just coming up with things on the fly, but apparently he had a natural talent at it like her. letting out a soft sigh, she lifts her paw up, almost covering part of her face. "oh dear thyme, why would i get jealous over you?" she purrs, watching him with eyes filled with amusement. it was a little unsettling, but it was fun thinking up retorts to try to shut him down

His eyes flickered away for a split second, trying to come up with a reply to that. A soft chuckle then, sitting up slightly straighter while at the same time shifting just that much closer to her. "A better question, precious Petal of Wilting Rose," he purred as he did so, "is why wouldn't you be? And... well, you were the one who wanted to see me flirt in the first place. Why else would you be so curious as to go through that much trouble to see it?"

"merely because i did not want to see you grow into a pitiful old elder who never had a mate and only has his senile brother as a friend." she muses, shooting a wink of her own his way. she was quite amused now, letting her tail wave back and forth behind her

Soft laughter then, an ear flicking. "That, my dear, was a low blow." He purred, amused by the comment. "Perhaps I should turn my attention elsewhere. After all, you have made it quite obvious that my efforts are unappreciated here." He stated, his head tilted slightly as her watched her, expression the definition of feigned sincerity. This was something he was likely never going to do again.

gasping dramatically, she shakes her head, looking down with an expression of dismay. "oh but thyme, we're having such a pleasant conversation. please, stay and flirt some more." she purrs, looking back up at him with pleading eyes. this was extremely entertaining and she wasn't about to let him run off and hide

"Flirt?" Thyme was feigning shock now, his tail wrapping around his paws as he did so. "Is that all a lovely she-cat like yourself can think about? And here I was under the impression we were simply having a nice conversation." He stated. "Is that all you see my attempts at socializing as, my dear? Really, you must be reading quite far into what I've been saying." A small grin appeared as he spoke.

finally at a loss for words, the white tabby she-cat lets out a sigh. "alright, thyme. you win." she meows, leaning forward and batting at him playfully. she truly didn't have a good retort for that. she should've chose her wording more carefully

"Thank the ancestors." A relieved sigh as Thyme slid from sitting down to lying down, his paws stretched in front of him. "Never again." He murmured after a second, his ears back slightly. "That was utterly exhausting."
