Hawkclaw scented the air, paused, then sniffed again. He smelled Birdfeather. Can she really be this close? He wondered, then slunk silently towards her. He spotted her, then slipped past her, without her knowledge. He slunk away, then scanned the ground. He spotted what he was looking for, a pile of dead leaves and grass. He unburied her catch, a shrew, and stalked away, to hide it with his buried prey. Ha! No one said no cheating! Hawkclaw thought triumphantly. He padded away, to catch one more piece of prey.

A rustle sounded off to her side but she ignored it, thinking it to just be the chilly breeze. She shook out her fur and practically ran over a squirrel in her way, quickly killing it and hiding it in a cleft underneath the nearby tree.
