Ash stayed sitting up at first, occasionally glancing up to see if anyone was coming. At Alex's question, however, he shrugged and lay down on his stomach, propping his head up with his hand-paw and taking care to keep his claws away from his eye. "I wish I knew..." He murmured in response. With his other paw, he attempted to pick up a little twig so as to drag it through the sand, but couldn't figure out how to grip his bearish fingers around it without his claws getting in the way and soon gave up with a sigh. He then crossed his arms in front of him and rested his chin on them, staring at the ground in front of him.

Alex stayed silent as he laid on the ground, trying his best to control his breathing due to his ribs. His ears twitched as they listened to the slight breeze move sand and a few pebbles across the hot ground. He then picked up on something moving towards them, most likely an animal or another hybrid. Although and animal wouldn't get close to them, or have such delayed steps.
The scientists must have moved them for a certain reason, maybe in correlation with their DNA. He was part bobcat after all and bobcats can live in the desert, but a shark can't Which is why this makes no sense. As for bears, the don't do well in the desert so it cant be that. The forest was perfect, why couldn't they have stayed there. He let out a soft sigh and turned his head to face Ash, a small smile forming on his lips. He was happy to at least know someone. "I'm s-sure they have their r-reasons" he said, moving his head to face the sky once again.
