Hobblegrunts are highly inquisitive and elusive dragons. They are very sensitive to
emotions emanating from humans and other dragons. They can change color as well,
mostly to evoke emotions from other dragons.

You would not believe the day I had. First of all, chores, as usual (clean the stalls, tidy the house, blah, blah, blah). When my day finally cleared up, I took one of the horses out for a ride. It was a nice ride up until a dragon decided to drop in. Lesson of the day – horses don’t like dragons. I got flung out of the saddle and all I could do was watch as my horse AND my way home ran away. Blasted thing.
So of course my first reaction was I pulled out my sword and … who am I kidding? I just sat there screaming while this purple abomination stood in front of me. Actually when I started screaming, the dragon changed colour. Another bright colour, apparently my screaming upset her? What was she expecting?
Anyway when I stopped screaming, the dragon’s colour changed back. It reminded me of a dragon I was told about in the village, a Hobblegrunt. Those things can change colour right? Ah I’ll look it up later. So I stood up and took a step back but for my step, the dragon took three, she was so close that it made my stomach drop.
Instead of attacking me as I had anticipated, the dragon just lowered her head. She reminded me of a dog who had been scolded for digging holes. It was at that moment I did the bravest thing I had ever done, I touched it. Yep, I reached out and petted the winged lizard.
“You’re a spectrum of pain, aren’t you?” I remember hypothetically asking her.
The dragon just flicked its tail from side to side. As much as I wanted to spend the rest of the day with the dragon, I needed to get home. So I started walking back, following the hoof prints. Why not fly on the dragon? Because if you don’t know how to fly, that’s how you will definitely die (at least according to my father). Needless to say I would have liked the company so I stopped after a moment and glanced back at the dragon. She was just sitting there watching me. I wanted to call her over but of course I had no name for it. So I used the one word I had seen get a reaction from the dragon.
“You coming Spectrum?” I called out and sure enough the dragon followed, in fact she followed me all the way home.
You should have seen my father’s face.
Also the horse is still missing – whoops.

Taming Entry:
I sat with my back against a tree. Nibbling on the roasted rabbit leg while Astral stayed hidden against a nearby boulder, keeping watch for any nearby dragons. Fantastic idea to roast my kill in the woods but honestly I'd felt as if my stomach was going to burst out of me and start devouring everything in sight.
Besides Astral was here, I was pretty sure she'd be good to scare away some of the smaller breeds of dragon and we could fly away from the bigger ones.
