Artemis & August Lockwood
Age: 18
Gender: August is male; Artemis is female
Position: geneticist (August), chemist (Artemis)
Appearance: The Lockwood twins are nearly impossible to tell apart- at least, they would be if it weren't for their metal limbs. Both have a prosthetic arm and leg; Artemis's are on the right side of her body, while August's are on his left. They share the same haircut, an emo-ish one that covers half their face, and their outfits, usually shorts and a t-shirt, are also somehow always identical. Despite both of them hating being mistaken for the other, they take a secret pleasure in confusing people- which is pretty much the only reason Artemis hasn't dyed her hair from its natural black to something else. (If anyone asked, though, they would say that they don't want to give the other the satisfaction of seeing them fold first.) They're 5'2", and their eyes are a bright fuschia, something August wishes weren't the case.
Background: The twins have a strong aversion to the phrase "attached at the hip", not because they don't like being thought of as a set, but because for over half their lives they really were attached at the hip- in fact, they were born connected along their entire torso. At age thirteen their family finally raised enough money to get them surgically separated, and ever since then they've been trying to get away from each other. Unfortunately, life doesn't seem to have that in mind for them. They were accepted to the same university, where they worked until both were selected for the Zodiac's crew, after which their shared last name had them next to each other in everything: living quarters, database entries, chores, you name it. They understandably aren't very pleased with this arrangement, and often try to trade spots with other people.
Personality (Artemis): By far the more artistic of the two, Artemis is responsible for the mysterious spraypaint murals that show up on the ship's walls overnight, as well as the paint stains all over the chem lab's floor and the topiary in the greenhouse. She's usually upbeat and positive, but more often than not this manifests as reckless stunts and overconfidence. Case in point: that time she hoverboarded at 60 mph through the quarantine room on a dare. Back when she was in school (which wasn't that long ago), she was undeniably one of the "cool kids", and the cockiness learned then has never quite faded off. She's used to being able to casually throw insults around, especially at her brother, and often badmouths people to get a rise out of them, mostly pertaining to their romantic lives. She probably won't be on the crew list for the Zodiac's second voyage.
Personality (August): If Artemis is the "right brain" type of the two, then August is the left brain, logical and levelheaded. He tries to pass himself off as cool and collected, but he's easily flustered by displays of emotion ("What is this I'm seeing??? Are they crying because they're happy or because they're sad??? WHAT DO I DO?!"), as well as rather paranoid, a trait picked up from his older brother back when he was a young child. August spends most of his time alone and knows how to solve a Rubik's cube in under seven seconds, a trait Artemis mocks him for. He's used to dealing with both his own mistakes and his sister's, and will usually take the blame for problems that aren't really his fault, just to get them dealt with. He likes to do everything himself, and will respond to offers for help with his trademark sarcasm.
Gear: August's left arm contains a device that can scan and analyze the genetic and chemical composition of various subjects, as well as communicate with others and store data. His leg is equipped with a first aid kit and tranquilizer gun, "just in case". Artemis's limbs don't contain any extra technology, but she does store her hoverboard and spraypaint canisters in them. Both twins' organs are kept functional by a variety of artificial implants from their surgery, which makes them incapable of entering strong electromagnetic fields.
((Extra scientists just because, even if it is a little late for it. And yes, they are two people, I just put them in the same form because they had the same appearance and background.))
