Rikimaru -now in the cockpit- looked to Alyssa. "Send a distress call before the communications are unsaveable." They held down the comm button and spoke into it. Their voice was stoic and clear. "Engineering. Status." They narrowed their blue eyes and thought for a moment before making another transmission across the comm system to reply to Enyo. "Asteroid. Status of sectors unknown. Awaiting engineering's response. I'd appreciate it if you could get down to the chem lab to check nothing has been contaminated."

Nicholas Frost_Human_Engineer

Postby Cdario » Sat Jun 04, 2016 10:34 am

Nicholas sprinted down the hall, sweat trailing down his cheek. He had been on the treadmill prior to the incident and was quite literally flung off the machine at the impact. Slightly sore, and more than a little irritated by the disruption he made his way to his room and quickly grabbed his personal tool kit and slipped a gas mask over his head. At Wesley's call for assistance he began racing down to her current sector. Heaving a sigh he raised the communicator to his mouth.
"Yeah this is Nicholas Frost I'm heading down to Taurus sector right now to help repair."

Arriving in the engine room he slipped the mask over his nose and mouth before analyzing the area. "Wesley what's the damage report? Do we know what in the hell caused all this??" He called over the blaring siren as is warned of danger.

"Copy that, Nicholas. Be careful." Rikimaru -now calmer that they knew the crew was checking on the problem, wrote a quick few notes in their notebook. The page was labelled 'Nicholas Frost -Engineer'. They added a note under his name; Quick to assist in engine failure. Works well under pressure. They snapped their notebook shut and tucked it back under their arm. Grabbing the scruff of their trenchcoat, they readjusted the neck and looked down at Alyssa.

"Whatever it was," Wesley said, ducking under a spray of plasma to get at some cables that had exploded out of the wall, "It hurt bad! Engines are out, both of them, the hyperdrive's in pieces, We're lucky life support is still working. Long-range comms are down, I've managed to stabilize the structural integrity field, who knows for how long though. Minerva's locking down the plasma conduits, get to work on bringing sublight engines back online while I try to stop us from falling apart." Getting back on the communicator as she worked, Wesley said "We're holding her together as best we can, commander, but we need to get out of here. The ship's sustained severe structural damage, if we don't get in atmosphere soon, we won't be able to at all. Find a planet, a moon, anything habitable, I'm not sure how long I can keep her together!"

"Find a planet, a moon, anything habitable, I'm not sure how long I can keep her together!" Once Alyssa heard that, she pulled up a hologram of what they had discovered in space so far. Displayed on the hologram was a very miniscule dot, representing the Zodaic. Right near the dot was five other dots, which looked like to be planets. She zoomed in to find the information of them. None of them were the right condition for them to land, it seemed, until she looked at the last planet's information. It seemed like it was the same temperature as Earth, had lots of oceans as well as lakes and seas, and a grassy, rugged terrain. "I've found five planets near us -- one of which is suitable for our needs," she exclaimed. She looked towards the second in command, Rikimaru. "Should we try to land on it? It seems like the best option we have."

Theo was napping in his bunk when the asteroid impacted the craft. He was flung to the floor as the artificial gravity compensated for the sudden disruption. The com squawked as the AI in the cockpit sounded the alert.
"Captain, we've been hit. The engines aren't working; transmissions'll be joining them soon. Hyperdrive is permanently decommissioned- basically, it's all gone to hell."
He swore under his breath, pushing himself up off the floor. He knew Rikimaru was closer to the helm than he was. They would probably have thing moving by now. He activated the com "On my way". He was going to have to find his way all the way from Scorpio to meet his team in Aries. Oh boy, what fun. His omnitool blared at him all the destroyed systems. Taurus section was toast and Cancer section was being filled with foam to smother a chemical fire. He felt his heart drop. Gemini, the section between the two most heavily damaged sections, was were his son was trapped...

Reinen shook his head, trying to clear the disorientation. The power in the lab was failing. Something had hit the ship, then something had broken loose and hit him. He touched the wound gently. It didn't seem too bad, but it had knocked him out. His omnitool beeped furiously at him. There were injuries aboard. He struggled to stand up and find his emergency kit. It was difficult reaching the door with a head wound, but he managed, only to find the handle to Cancer section hot to the touch. Dizzy, he used the com to page Aries Section. "Med to Helm, what's our status? Who's hurt?"

Rikimaru nodded at Alyssa, squinting at the screen. "If you think we can make it. We don't have many options available." They took off their hat and ran a hand through their dark hair. Putting their hat back on, they replied to Reinen. "We're fine up here. Are you alright?" Despite the question they seemed rather apathetic, their voice cold and even. Truly, they were concerned, but they figured it reasonable. They needed their medic alive and healthy, especially if they just got hit. If the medic were to perish they would be in more trouble than they already were.
Their corgi was sitting at their feet, whining. Rikimaru pat him idly with a hand to shush him.

Ƥanacea
xxxPanacea took a few moments to collect themselves, setting aside the synthetic organic processes they performed to look more human and standing perfectly stock still as they worked through processing their new data. Seconds pass but to the android it feels like hours. Their local comm implants drone and and on until finally, their thoughts gathered neatly, they back away from the startled chemists and respond. "Panacea v3 AI reporting to helm, the chemical deck has sustained only minor damages. No human lives or injuries have been incurred." Carefully, as they speak, the android peels away their gloves. The synthetic skin underneath is damaged, in some places completely gone, but from what they can see of the thin metal skeleton that makes up their internal systems they are fundamentally undamaged. "I suggest evacuation if a more stable sector is available. All chemical crew are able to relocate themselves. If there is no where else I should be assigned I will manage containment and clean up of this sector."

Σnyo
xxxEnyo keeps herself tuned into the Ares deck comm, trying to keep a mental tally of which sectors are well off and which are in danger as she rushes across the ship's corridors. She's halfway to the Cancer sector under Rikimaru's order when Panacea finally reports on their situation and she sighs, a little irritated to have come this close to the deck only to find out the situation is -- apparently -- under control. "Enyo reporting, I'm in the biologic wing and if the situation in Cancer is managed I've got no directive." She pulls up a copy of the ship's status report on her arm, speaking as she glances at her position. "The med bay looks compromised. I'm close if there's an issue..." She starts toward the med bay, taking long strides, but poised to change direction.

Theo stumbled through the haze of chemical smoke that hung thick between the sections. He resisted the urge to sprint to Gemini to find Reinen, but the mission was more important than familial connections. He unlatched the hatch to Aries and stumbled in, tripping over a piece of dislodged bulkhead. Rikimaru and Alyssa were already in control of the situation at the helm. The ALEC AI strobed red, indicating malfunctions. Regaining his feet he approached his second -in-command. "What's the damage, kid?"

Artemis Lockwood

Against all the laws of regular work hours, Artemis was not in fact in Cancer when the ship began to shake- instead, she was hiding in the corner of the common room, taking a much-needed nap. Staying up all night didn't come without a price, after all. Wide-scale disaster waits for nobody, however, and the truant chemist was abruptly awoken at the sound of the voices delivering their reports over the comm. Oh. Oh my god. Something's happened- did I hear chem lab just now?! Ohhh god, I hope it's not the compounds I was mixing, those are volatile, I knew I shoulda labeled them-
Artemis made a mad dash down the corridors to Cancer, hurriedly donning her lab coat as she ran. She almost knocked over several similarly frantic people, but at least that meant it wasn't just chemicals... perhaps nobody would notice her absence? Yeah, right. If the fiasco in the lab was her fault, there was no way she'd escape the blame. She cursed under her breath, blocking the rest of the reports out. Bad news didn't have to be accompanied by more bad news.
August Lockwood

Unlike his sister, August Lockwood was a responsible young man who knew what he was doing and was most certainly not playing chess by himself- ah, who was he kidding? It wasn't like the genetic lab had much to do anyways. They'd already analyzed and gene-coded and made hybrids of pretty much every lifeform on ship, and all there was to do now was to wait... what was that? It seemed an awful lot like the ship shaking...
"Captain, we've been hit. The engines aren't working; transmissions'll be joining them soon. Hyperdrive is permanently decommissioned- basically, it's all gone to hell."
Oh. That was the ship shaking. Great to know... oh my god. That had to have been a mistake, right? The AI had always been somewhat of a prankster... but no, the comm was filled with disaster reports, and right before his eyes the rack of newly engineered plants had fallen over, threatening to destroy a whole week's work. Trying to control his nerves, August began to pick them up, half-hurling them back onto their rack. There had to be something more important to do, but it wasn't like he could help, and... why oh why do these things always have to happen to me?
