So, random question; what is your favourite song(s). Just curious
I can't really choose a favourite of all time, but right now I've been listening to be concerned, clear, lovely and trapdoor a lot. I really love how different albums sound, like self titled has more of a 'rock' type feel to me.

last time someone asked the song/album question, i posted a huge rant about how much i love blurryface. so i think this time imma get into how much i love regional at best and how much those songs mean to me.
Everyone always talks about vessel and how it's the best and how life changing it is, but to me twenty one pilots is really distinguished by regional at best. first of all, i think it's the best example of their musical style. there are songs like ode to sleep, glowing eyes, and migraine that show off the creative use of autotune and electronically generated sounds that have always really stood out to me about top. when i think of autotune, i normally think of disney child stars singing and obnoxious duet that sounds jsut like every other disney child star duet. however, in rab tyler uses autotune super creativly, not only for background vocals but for a lot of the melody vocals as well. then, there are the songs like slowtown and car radio that really show off their keyboard and drum driven vocal sounds. the album has a great blend of their two main styles and does a great job showcasing all the different sounds.
Then, there are the lyrics (which i also feel really represent what twenty one pilots is all about). At first glance, they seem to be really dark. 'won't you say goodnight, so i can say goodbye.' 'do i threaten all your plans? i'm insignificant. you have no plans for me.' 'i scream, you scream, we all scream because we're terrified.' 'i put my socks on my feet just so that my soul wont fall through my toes. i walk through my door, just so that i don't fall through the floor.' The chorus of glowing eyes is about Tyler hearing someone calling for help and choosing not to answer. The entire first verse of Car Radio is about the temptation to do something to end your life. The background vocals of kitchen sink are tyler screaming the word leave me alone. Sure, these lyrics aren't as dark as self titled, but they are the thoughts of someone who's mind is a much darker place than it should be.
and yet.
and yet, underneath these surface lyrics, every single song has a message of hope. every. single. one. and ultimately, that's what twenty one pilots is about to me. it't about acknowledging that there's some dark, deppressing stuff in life, but more importantly it's about finding ways to fight it, it's about remembering that there is good in the world, and it's about remembering that there are kids like us, who feel and think and want the same things.
During this era, tyler tweeted my favorite tweet of his of all time. 'Kids will come out of the dark, jsut to see if there are truly people like them." And that honestly sums up this band to me. the entire message of rab sums up twenty one pilots to me.

My favorite song is Kitchen Sink, followed by Trees, Clear, and Forest. I also really love Holding on to You and Before you Start your Day. <3
I almost started crying when I saw that a portion of Kitchen Sink was on the setlist, and watching the videos of them sing it was so emotional. q-q I can't wait for July 3rd now.

for those of you who want to sneak a peek at the new emotional roadshow set - some kind soul got permission (i believe/hope, i haven't checked it out otherwise yet) to record the entire set in reasonably high quality in parts, so if you only want to see, say, stressed out and nothing else, there's individual footage of each song ^^ here's the link if anyone's interested!!
aaand here is the masterpost of every single thing 21p has ever released (or not released) ever if you're interested!! should make for interesting listening, especially the "cover album" oh my <3
also if any of you guys have any links to mashups involving 21p (i don't really care who with, although i LOVE the halsey/21p mashups even though i am not particularly fond of Halsey herself) then pleease hit me up! i'm thinking of doing a series of sketches or mayybe full fledged pieces based on them involving the personas/characters from the songs or albums ^^ i'm hoping to start on one based on gasoline by Halsey and house of gold tonight, so if you have any others that you particularly like then please, feel free to send them my way!! <3
