Boomer, there really is no such thing as an ugly hedgehog! I had a little look at my local pet store, but they have no hedgehogs. Then again, I can always just get a hamster and give it some spiky armour. XD

In my opinion, it's a good thing that they don't have hedgehogs at the pet store! Hedgies are a little more complicated than hamsters. They require very specific care and a lot of the time, pet stores don't provide them with it. For example, they need to be kept warm (between 74-82 degrees F) or else they attempt hibernation, which can be fatal if they succeed. So, they need a consistent heat source.

If you want to get a hedgehog, I very, very, very strongly recommend that you do lots of research before bringing one into your home. Just like any pet <3 Some pets do fine as an impulse by, but imo hedgies aren't really one of them.
(I've been doing my research since I decided I would be getting one back in November LOL)

Yes! I love hedgies to death oh my goodness. My parents actually were hedgehog breeders before I was born, they had about 50 little snufflers that they loved dearly and got to loving homes. The affection has since rubbed off really hard on me teehee!

Rupert is my first hedgehog, he is around 1 year old. He has an (unfortunately) not all that rare disease called WHS which stands for Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome. There is no known cure and this is fatal. He is a wobbly baby, so unfortanetly i don't have the best of pictures! XD i'll try to dig out some and post them here <3

Ahh thanks guys! Yea... It doesn't seem to be progressing very fast and he is eating he is chubby not gonna lie, but i'd rather not bring the thread down; lets talk about how picky of an eater mine is... For some reason he doesn't like worms and is SOO picky that he only eats egg whites, not yolks... Anyone else have spoiled hog issues? XD

I'm really hoping I don't have a picky eater >.< I have my heart set on a mix, cooked chicken, live mealies, and homemade hedgie cookies/meatballs/burgers. Maybe it'll be like a child: introduce them to lots when they are young and they'll grow up more accepting?

What foods do you guys feed?
I was thinking a mix of solid gold winged tiger/natural balance green pea and duck/whatever breeder is currently feeding.
