Following Silverpool into the clearing, Stormclaw padded quickly to her den and flung the old moss away from her lonely nest and replaced it with new moss. She sighed, looking at the den in despair. She missed all her old clanmates dearly, she wasn't as connected with these new cats as she was with her old friends, the ones she grew up with. She had finished her growing though, so she took a deep breath before chewing some tansy and settling at the opening of her den to listen to the meeting.

Sparrowfur didn't have anything to say, but just let out a loud groan. He
was disappointed he couldn't watch the clan meeting, but he forced himself to. Sparrowfur
dragged himself right outside the den and flopped down on his belly, waiting for the
meeting to start.

Pixel sat uncomfortably in the crowd, not feeling like she was fitting in
and almost felt like she was barging into the clan. Pixel didn't receive the most
welcome and friendliest stares, but she ignored the stares. She smiled and stared
at the clan leader, eyes wide to see what would happen.

Foxkit squirmed uncontrollably when his mother picked him up.
He let out a small mew as he wanted down. Foxkit stopped squirming when his
mother set him on the ground. He sat awkwardly, but ended up standing up
and going wild. Foxkit jumped up and down, laughing happily. A small blue butterfly
came down at his level and he pounced on it as it landed on the ground. He looked
at the butterfly in his paws, but made a sad face when he noticed he killed it.
Foxkit never liked the idea of killing things. His ears lowered down and his tail drooped.
"I killed it" Foxkit spoke in a small sad voice.

He watched the butterfly, as it dropped a little, then regained its flight, then dropped again, then regained its flight. He turned his son away, knowing it wouldn't go well if he saw what happened next. "Look up at Sorrelstar, Foxkit! That could be you, one day." He looked behind him and saw the butterfly limping on the floor. He snapped his head away and looked down, close to weeping. The butterfly reminded him so much of Slatedapple, her journey of falling and rising during Foxkit's birth, the pain wracked her body so much. He remembered her final cry of pain, her last breaths, then her fading away, up into StarClan. He looked up at the sky, though there were no stars other than the sun. He blinked his tears away and looked at Gingerstripe. She makes him so happy, he can't be upset about his old mate forever.
