the selection is a competition used to determine the
spouse of the heir to the thrown. traditionally, it was
only offered to eldest male since a.) females could n
ot rule and b.) princesses were married off to mainta
in relations with other kingdoms, but the rules have s
ince been lifted. this time the contest is being held i
n honor of the eldest twins of the king and queen. ho
wever, the circumstances are different since the selec
tion is choosing not one, but two soulmates, one for t
he crown princess & one for her younger brother, who
happens to be homosexual. therefore, their joint sele
ction.

xxx the castle was buzzing with life in the days approaching the royal twins' birthday. in fact, from
the early hours of the morning to the latest of the night, there was always a soul awake preparing,
most often the princess herself. the day was not one to be taken lightly, especially since it was
their eighteenth birthday. although this day used to mean much more in the time of the united
states of america, an eighteenth birthday still held great significance and honored the day that a
person officially transcended into adulthood, which is a day that adeline has been waiting for for
a particularly long time. and how fortunate was she to share such a special day with, with none
other than prince taro, quite possibly the only thing she loves more than herself.

xxx however, this morning was different as it was the day following the announcement of the top
ten, aka elite, which was cause for a little more sleep. in all honesty there were only a select few
that were even considered as a potential spouse for addie, but the media seemed to be obsessed
with some men that did not particularly catch her fancy. nonetheless, she needed to maintain a
favorable opinion in the eyes of the public, thus allowing said suitors to continue their stay in the
lush palace. though, this was not a bad thing because, in the words of the princess, "it could have
been worse, they could have all been hideous."

xxx just the thought of the selection's purpose was revolting. soon enough, adeline would be
forced to marry whatever man the public viewed as the most appropriate and share her life with
him, which was an equally nauseating thought. frankly, she did not even want a selection in the
first place. in fact, she tried to give her brother the competition, but the compromise was
discarded as they (the king and queen) then decided to put both taro and adeline in a joint
selection, which was still an astronomically better offer than the original since the burden would
now be distributed between the two.

xxx at that moment, a lingering notion of actually finding true love floated into ad's mind, causing
a pause in the princess' typically swarming mind. the selection is known for being the ultimate
method of introducing soul mates to one another, which seemed like a truly juvenile idea, but
what if? what if there was a person out there that could penetrate the towering walls protecting
the princess' heart? what if there was a reliable man in the world that could somehow gain the
affections of the princess? as soon as the thought entered, it was quickly thrown out as adeline
scoffed at such foolish fantasies. love was a weakness, and she only allowed to infiltrate her heart
for her brother, and no one else.

xxx the princess then switched to her standard mode of thinking as she got out of bed, ringing a
small bell for the maid, before getting ready for the day. addie applied some moderately light
make up before sauntering over to her closet and slipping into a white tea length dress adorned
with a blush floral pattern. in addition, adeline also wore heels of a considerably high height in a
pale blue color, adding a small contrast. she then placed her hair in an updo fastened with a
jeweled accessory which was followed by the introduction of a necklace and earring combination,
and lastly the wearing of a stunning rose gold ring. before leaving the room, adeline gave herself
a brief look over in the mirror that was accompanied with a small kiss and wink. once in the hall,
addie took off towards the dining hall for a light breakfast before the dates and meetings of the
day.
