Hello there! I'm Wanda, a teen girl on CS who loves to draw, chat, play sports, read, and is a complete music dork. I'm quite shy so please keep that in mind when chatting to me, but feel free to ask me questions! It helps to talk. I no longer draw on CS, but my DA is filled with my art from an app on my iPad. SO MANY QUESTIONS AAAAAH Also I don't say it much but fantastic art you all have been getting lately ;v; I LOVE the characters I've been seeing, they are all so cool looking aaah!

Question time!
Do you have a certain goal of 'development' for your characters? Like a certain amount of art or a certain amount of writing? A form you fill out for all of them?
I like to have a concept of a character's personality and then a backstory at least before I consider a character fully developed. As far as artwork goes, I have no specific goal for how much art they need.
What do you do AFTER you reach that goal, after you feel you've 'developed' the character. Do you just leave them at a standstill? Do you keep your characters/their development fluid?
After a character is developed, I just talk about them with friends, make some headcannons, chuck them into situations, etc etc. Helps me grasp who they are as a character more, which keeps me attached to them longer.
What do you think multiple fursonas?
I think that a fursona is meant to be you in an animal form, and nothing else. Something to represent you as a person well. So having multiple sonas is something I could never fully grasp why people make multiple fursonas, just because if it's meant to represent you as a whole then why do you need more than one? I have nothing wrong with people who have multiple fursonas, in fact I'd love to hear why some people do have multiple sonas.
How do you represent your characters on a site/ toyhouse/folders? Do you just put refs as the preview,do you use icons? Buy (or draw) tags?
I hide them away in stash LOL my database is only accessible by me and a few close friends, and their preview icons for all of them are their refs. I gave up trying to buy tags for all of them a long time ago LOL
How do you come up with character names?
I like to go on 2000-names.com to search for names because they have such a wide variety of names with different themes and meanings. And I just look for a name that just best fits the character.
What do you look for in characters?
Something I can connect with, and develop, I tend to also look for natural to seminatural designs, both marking and color wise c:
Not very active here, you can find me other places though!

I want to know from you all what qualifies as a fursona? And anything else that you all want to talk about with each other about fursonas.

If you are on mobile or simply don't have time to read alot of other's answers to this you may skip over it.

Quoting because it got skipped over with all of the ads and art.

What is your most prized character[s] of all times? C:

I've probably said this a thousand times, but Nate. He's been my favorite since the day I had him designed for me back in 2012 and he probably always will be.

Holy man there's been a lot happening over here, hasn't there?
I have an opnion on the topic but I'll wait until it resurfaces before digging up old news. C;

So in news for me, I've been drifting away from the usual character eb and flow to focus
more on CS adoptables, primarily bear run tolters. If any of you enjoy horse designs/breeding/talented artists, there is quite a crew over there that does an incredible job will all that. And honestly the community there is probably the best one I've ever been in, they are kind and always up for talking, and someone is usually always streaming. I'd highly reccomend checking them out.

I'm actually getting another equine adopt lines made. Yeah yeah I have too many already, but I thought I'd share my excitement. Emberwolf is creating me a set of warmblood/cob horse lines and I'm so pumped for them because their artwork is beyond stunning.

on that note I have some CS species avalible to be sold/gifted away

Image
^these guys were created by IronicwOrLd and come with baby, teen and adult lines. They are currently up FREE on the contests boards. All you have to do to enter is read that post. I'm looking for effort for these guys, since they are a very well done and complete thing and I truly want to see someone use them.

Image
^ These guys were created by me on a whim and I never really connected with them. They have adult lines, as well as two different child options. They have different ear and tail layers and are fairly well organized. These are for sale and will be fairly easy to pull from me but keep in mind they did take a bit of effort. I'm looking for points/list pets/characters

Image
^I bought these lines from Shadowfury, and never really used them. They are basic cat lines with a long tail and a short tail. I paid this this for them and would like something around that for them now, although I will take other offers as well.

Image
^ Lines/concept originally by me, anatomy/shading help from gator vocals. These guys are near to my heart but I'm not using them as much as I should. They have foal/adult lines and good quality shading/layers. I will only be taking DA points or HQ character/closed species, or valuable list pet offers on them.

Image
^Species concept by me, custom lines by Neara. These are really hard to even consider getting rid of, but honestly they aren't getting as much love as they should. I have spoken with Neara and I am either allowed to gift them away or sell them for less than I paid for them at a one time sale. I paid 2,000 DA points for these lines, and they come with the banner and all that I made for them. I'll take offers that are less than 2,000 points, but also would love to have someone write me why they think I should gift it to them in a pm. C:

Image
^ I bought these from Rose Sinclair but the original artist is unknown. I paid this for them and am looking for that plus a little maybe? They come with baby/teen/adult lines

Now to answer some questions and offer some!

Is any of your characters based off of something?
Uhhmm yeah a lot lol I have over 150 natural cat characters based off the Warriors series. A lot of the stuff I use as inspriation for my designs, like characters from Bones and such. I also base a lot of characters off Shakespeare stuff. X3

How do you deal with art stealers?
I'll be frank when I say I have toleration for blatant outright stealing. (not like a misunderstanding/miscommunication type error) If you purposely take someone else art then you should be banned/punished/made to reimburse those who were scammed by you. I had someone try to resell some of my adopts on DA and I can honestly say it was one of the worst feelings ever. I found out through the CAA because my friends told me, and I was on vacation. Deviant art makes it pretty hard to punish people who do that which is why I primarily just use CS now. I report them and will confront them because I'm a confrontational person by nature.

How long have you been a member of CAAA? Have you seen any artists improve while here?
iUHMM well I've been here off and on since V.6 and before that even, when there wasn't a number. I HAVE SEEN THINGS lol no but honestly I've seen so many artists develop here. Batman, who was once Linkia, has come so far and they are like one of my besties on here. Hnai has improved (not that they ever needed to because hot dang talk about talent), sadbloom and SIXBANE has the most incredible art now too. ;u; Talon even was always great but watching them grow and become so popular and all has been really cool.

How do you come up with character names?
I pull them out of thin air Nooo I actually have to like look up names in different languages, or I base them off something in my life/stuff I read. I tend to name a lot of characters after other characters, stuff like that. I will alos just make up names, but that's kind of a new territory and can be rough.

What do you look for in characters?
I look for connection. I mean, I love a HQ character as much as the next person but the more expensive a character is I feel like the more we feel required to connect with them. Expensive ro even HQ does NOT mean that you will love them more/ or even connect. I've fallen into this trap before and you end up regretting your choice. I really like seeing effort put into a character, to see little details in the deign/overall effect that really speak to me.

Long answers post! Apologies for the length :>

What do you look for in characters?
Natural colors! Specifically different shades of browns.
I'm such a looser when it comes to natural-looking colored characters. I'm also just getting into pastel colored characters as well!

How do you come up with character names?
I spend a LOT of time on the internet looking up interesting names.
I enjoy unique names or names that come from Latin, Japan, etc. Or sometimes I'll mix up a bunch of letters together to see if it makes up a "nice-sounding" name.
For example: One of my characters are named "Caeli." She was named after the star in the constellation Caelum.

Is any of your characters based off of something?
Caeli is actually based off of Little Red Riding Hood! Basically, Kittencity helped design and draw them for me, and I just told them the theme would be Little Red. I'm really, really happy about how well she came out! :'> You all should check Kittencity out!
Image
By Kittencity on DeviantART.

What is your favorite character and why?
I have way too many favorites, but I'd say my fursonas are my favorite characters.
But if my fursonas didn't count, they'd probably be Luna, my Unnamed red-panda character and Polo.

Luna is one of the few characters that I bought with actual money. I spend about $30 on her, but I was happy to do so because I love her design. Her design is hard to replicate, but I still love her so much and I try to draw her at least once every two weeks. My Unnamed red-panda character is also important to me because I love her background that I had made up for her. She's a witch-y character and she has such a bubbly personality that it makes me happy. And finally, Polo is important to me because his colors and design are absolutely beautiful. But it's not all about his colors, he reminds me of a puppy who I once saw at an adoption center. I couldn't adopt them, because my parents don't want to have any pets in our house, but I still like to pretend.

How did you come up with you fursona?
Okay... so I have two fursonas. My two fursonas are Everest and Rez.
Everest is a male and Rez is a female character.

I remember drawing Everest. He was originally supposed to be an adoptable, but I ended up adding some brown colors and figured that I actually liked the colors. I added some stars and small dots and modifying their markings and I really enjoyed their design that I didn't want to sell them. I felt a very strong connection with them, and to this day he's one of my favorite characters that I'll never let go. Although he doesn't look like it, he's supposed to be a husky character, but I still love him to bits.

Rez was also an adoptable-mistake. I was doodling up some lines and I ended up liking them, so then I started adding and playing around with the colors, and then I made a design that I was pretty proud of. Rez's markings are supposed to look a little bit like Everest's markings because they're supposed to be "cousins." Since she gave me a connection, I decided to make her my second sona.

I believe that a fursona should represent that person. Maybe they don't have to represent you entirely or maybe they don't have to look like you exactly, but I think they should have a part of yourself in that fursona. For example, my fursonas contain my quirky personality, likes and dislikes, etc.

What kind of color palettes do you like?
Soft colors! I'm not a huge fan of big, bright colors. I also love the color brown on characters!

What is your favorite way to get characters? (I.E buying them, winning them, etc)
I prefer buying them or I just draw them myself.
I've dealt with character-theft in the past months, and it's gotten to a point where I don't feel like dealing with it anymore so I just make my own characters that way I can create these characters to my liking and avoid problems.

Do you have any natural colored characters? Please take some time to introduce us to them with artist credit! C:

What is your favorite way to get characters? (I.E buying them, winning them, etc)
My favorite way would have to be character trades. Because not only are you getting a character that you love, you're giving that character you fell out of love with a chance to shine again.

Do you think the only way to show care for a character is to order art/writing/visible stuff of them? Or can it be unseen? Expalin.
I definitely think in order to show love for a character, you at least have to be developing them. And if you aren't doing that, then art/writing commissions of them are the next thing. You can't care for a character if it just sits there in your folder to look pretty, ya know?

Do you have any natural colored characters? Please take some time to introduce us to them with artist credit! C:

and I also have Giovanni (lineart by Tealea, design by >>Leafstorm515)

Definitely increased. Especially since becoming active in this thread xD Aha.

So far I haven't had to, thankfully. As for preventing it, I'd say be mindful where you share their reference/art and make sure there's a way it can be traced back to you. (Also the occasional Google image search to make sure it hasn't been posted anywhere else helps.)

Edit:Taking requests so I can practice digital art on different species. PM me refs! (Any species!)
