The more and more I look through my things, the more and more I get angry at the past me. What was I thinking!? I not only got rid of my rat hoard and my zodiacs (why!?) But I apparently got rid of all my voodoo dolls!! Dear lord I forgot how serious I was about quitting. If anyone has voodoo dolls just lying around and you're willing to trade, give me a holler. Doesn't matter which ones.

(I hope it's ok to post here even though I'm not a hoarder, yet anyway)

I'm having a bit of a dilemma. I decided to quit the site a while ago (for the fifth time or something like that, I'm bad at quitting XD) and traded away a bunch of pets. The rest I started gifting away. Then suddenly I decided not to quit (as usual) and wanted to collect pets again. I'm bad at decisions, but that's not the point. When I was going through the pets I hadn't gifted to see what I wanted to keep I noticed a bunch of extras of pets I really like.

Getting to the point: I'm torn between working on the pets on my wishlist first and hoarding later, or to just start those hoards now. On the one hand I might need to use the extras for trade fodder, but on the other hand I might regret trading them away.

Like I said, I'm bad at decisions...
Anyone have any good advice for a very confused person? XD

Edit: I'll probably start hoarding right away.... Maybe.

At the point you're at now and with your propensity for switching gears at the drop of a hat I'd just trade for what you like.
Don't be worrying about working hard on collections of things just for the sake of the collection when tomorrow you might be moved to give them all away again anyway. Just enjoy yourself and collect things you truly like and want. ^_^

And if you need a hand let me know. Though you may not realize it, you've come through for me a few times over the years. I'd be more than happy to help out if I can.

@'Possum
Thanks for the advice (:

I think I might have to start hoarding simply to stop from being too bored. It's mostly when I feel like there's nothing to do that I decide to quit and give away my collection (and I've mostly been prevented from quitting by events dragging me back in XD).
Maybe if I have a hoard to work on I'll feel like I have a reason to be here, and I also won't be frustrated if there's no progress on my pet collection.

Yes! Wonderful idea.

Honestly, hoarding is what keeps me around here. Trading in general but usually to feed my hoards. Every time I get a new trade it's like Christmas morning. Even after 7 years. And the events are like the most amazing thing ever. New pets, new items, decorating and dressing stuff up. Every time I think about leaving, I remember there's another event coming up and new pets every month. New chickens to collect. New items coming out to decorate my favorites... It's the little things that keep us going and keep us interested that are important.

Find something you love and go out and search for it everywhere. Make it your mission. ^_^

@'Possum
I've already picked out five pets that I like and had quite a few of to hoard. There are some others that I might hoard, but I'll have to check how easy they're to find first. (I need to come up with good names for the hoards too... I'm bad at that.)

When I went through the archive I only picked out the pets I really like to collect, and ended up with a 6-page wishlist. I'll definitely start hoarding right away, otherwise I won't be able to trade at all XD

Honestly, hoarding is what keeps me around here after I quit in 2011, gave away most of my best pets, then came back in 2013. I wish the person I'd given all my pets to still played =^/ They have like 550 of my best rares/very rares and even some lists and they quit a little after I did it seems. Kind of sucks.

But in all honesty even with that huge setback I've found that hoarding what I love on here and just going for it, even if I don't make progress in my regular pet collection, makes me smile and keeps me around. Do what you'd enjoy and collect as much of what you like as you want.

I'm such a finicky hoarder, I lose interest so quickly or something. I'm considering disbanding my gray pets hoard, I think maybe I just don't like theme hoards. I don't mean I don't like other people's theme hoards, I just don't like doing them myself. I'm probably going to, just cause I'm bored of it now x'D

On the other hand my Vintage Treasures (May '16 Guinea Pigs) Hoard is almost half way! I'm very happy with this hoard, I was pleasantly surprised with how this litter turned out, I really like it. ^-^

I've been almost solely a hoarder since at least 2011. I gave up going for a full collection some time in 2010 because I realized I didn't really enjoy it that much. There are a lot of pets whose designs I don't like, and I always noticed I wasn't willing to hunt them down as eagerly as the ones I actually liked.
Having to make huge sacrifices to get some high-value list pet that I didn't care for? I barely managed to get my actual dreamies at that point.
So I stopped collecting, and after I heard from another hoarder that they had given away their entire collection to focus on their endless cat hoard, I thought that was a good idea.
Now I only collect pets that I like, and everything else funds my hoards. It's been keeping me engaged all this time, despite the fact that I am terribly trade-lazy.
