What is one REAL animal species that you feel should be more popular when it comes to characters?
i love bird characters and snake characters. juj all reptiles, really, but especially snakes ha
also, goats.

How do you represent your characters on a site/ toyhouse/folders? Do you just put refs as the preview, do you use icons? Buy (or draw) tags?
i just take my favorite art piece of the character and crop it to a square headshot with a solid background (as you can see here). tags might be better but i'm lazy h a

Do you have a fursona? Tell us about them!
i have... multiple, ha. but my main one is ray. he's, like, a more cheerful and outgoing version of myself (basically "who i want to be").
If you have more than one fursona, tell us why, and what they mean to you!
there's ray, my main sona.
i also have a ponysona from when i was really into mlp, strikeout. he's more for my negative feelings than ray, especially in my schoolbook doodles.
there's my squidsona and my gemsona and my witchsona, none of which i use all that much ; v ;''
then there's oopsbot, who's kind of... a lot of my mental issues ha

How do you come up with character names?
i used to be really super into meaningful names and would scour through baby name sites to find the Perfect Name for every single one of my babies... but now i mostly just pick whatever comes to mind first, or even just use a generator until i find something that i think fits. i end up with names that i like a lot more that way, honestly.

How did you come up with you fursona?
i usually make sonas when i'm feeling some strong emotion (negative or positive), and they end up being me trying to convey that feeling in a character or something.

does anyone in the "real world" know about your chars? ( family/friends etc )
a couple of my friends, my so, and my parents do. my so and some of my friends think it's kinda dumb, but my other friends and parents think it's kinda cool. my mom's an artist and she even has a couple characters-- bunny stew, a mlp character she made when i was really little, and nybbles the goat!

How long have you been a member of CAAA? Have you seen any artists improve while here?
i joined about two years ago on v16 ; v ;
and like other people have said, yeah, pretty much everyone's improved heh

Who is your favorite designer?
idunno who my favorite designer would be among caaa members, but if you just meant in general... hoo boy
babezord, megadinkloid, drwsy, craniumz, iceypinklemons, siraquakip... idunno, i tend to follow people more for their art than their designs but i tried to find some whose designs i also like a lot ; v ;

Is any of your characters based off of something?
bella is based on one of my actual cats, admiral is based on one of my bio teacher's snakes, danny is based on paleontology but was mostly inspired by the song i am a paleontologist by tmbg, demon is based on this comic (that artist really inspired me in general ha), nyosuka is based on poliwrath's prototype design, puddle is based on my imaginary friend as a kid, sammy is loosely based on my biology teacher, snacks is based on my snake... so yeah, i guess you could say that some of my characters are based on something ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Do you have a certain goal of 'development' for your characters? Like a certain amount of art or a certain amount of writing? A form you fill out for all of them?
nah, i don't have any specific goals. i just try and develop a character as i have inspiration for it, and kinda leave it alone otherwise. i'm not a very good character parent rip

How long have you been a member of CAAA? Have you seen any artists improve while here?
I have been a quiet member on the sidelines for about a year since I got un-COPPA'D. I haven't been paying much attention to the other artists as of yet, but I watched myself improve. Everyone has got such awesome art!
Who is your favorite artist?
Smoulder is awesome, and I love Nix Tempestido's art. Both of those are great artists who I love to watch.
Who is your favorite designer?
Hmm, I think my favorite designers are actually not a part of the CAAA. I happen to enjoy ☁Lady Raincloud☁ 's designs, though she is not a part of the CAAA.
Do you have a certain goal of 'development' for your characters? Like a certain amount of art or a certain amount of writing? A form you fill out for all of them?
A detailed personality, and at least one story concept running around in my head. Otherwise, no.
What do you do AFTER you reach that goal, after you feel you've 'developed' the character. Do you just leave them at a standstill? Do you keep your characters/their development fluid?
I keep them fluid, because things change, and static is really boring. Plus stories!

I figured out this style of "Bitty" pieces, small enough be be an avatar. Like the one on my avatar currently! I want to do one for all my characters, but it will take quite a long time.

My family knows about my character obsession, though IDK about my friends.

I think they are fun! I have done a few of them before, it was great and I made a friend then <3
How did you come up with you fursona?
With Holly, she just kinda appeared? She went trough a minor revamp from her original design, and I like this one better. With Starlit Wish, she was me looking through an endangered species book I have looking for possible hybrids. She is a hybrid of Ocelot and Polar Bear with unatural coloring, and I love her <3 Sky Wishes was such a long time ago that I don't remember, though she has been through quite a few revamps. I still have to make a ref for her.
How do you deal with art stealers?
I haven't had anyone steal my art yet, thankfully, though I would probably report them or something.
What is your favorite character and why?
Nooo don't ask me to choose among my children!
Is any of your characters based off of something?
Hmm, probably. I really ought to finish organizing first and find out.
How do you come up with character names?
I either look up a good one, or something pops into my head. It usually turns out pretty nice.
What do you look for in characters?
Ideas I can run with, simplicity that isn't to simple, complexity that I can replicate. Replicatability, and also interesting designs.

I like video game based YCHs to be honest. Also gore? I really like gore~

Birds or Goats. Cows or Sheep, too!

Probably Everex or Silence. Everex needs someone who understands him; Silence is an amazing listener and would listen to my rambling.

I have Sage and Ghost ; Sage is literally me, based off of me in every way, and Ghost is more someone I relate to emotionally?

What kind of color palettes do you like?
I love neutral tones (greys, beiges, whites, creams) with pops of color like rosy pinks or blues.
Themed palettes (coffee shop, forest floor, oceanic reefs) are interesting as well!

The snake, PIA, around his neck actually bit him, but it was only able to get one fang partially in and Darius damaged the other one. They aren't exactly friends, but PIA needs Darius' help to get food and he uses PIA to interrogate subjects to get information for his employers. He is a former gladiator who agreed to interrogate and kill instead of continuing to be in the arena.

Why do I keep making species?! For some reason I'm super obsessed with designing a simple species.
I've been doodling on and off and finally came up with something that I think is kinda cute.
But before I actually go through with it, I'd love to get some feedback from ya'll!

BASIC INFO:
They are little cloaked/hooded creatures that have a head, arms, and feet - but no body!
Their arms, feet, antennas, hoods, and cloaks come in different shapes that can be mixed and matched.
They always wear their cloaks with the hoods up, so nobody knows what the backs of their heads look like.

I was thinking that they'd be created by witches/wizards who collect "Dream Essence" from sleeping children.
The colors/patterns of each would indicate whether it came from a good dream or a bad dream.

I'm thinking of making these an OPEN SPECIES because I'd like to see how others draw and design them!
What do you think? Please give me some feedback! Even if just to say you'd make one!
