Story:
Finnick growled at the man who opened his cage. He hated being anyone's pet, especially in a home with children. His owner worked at a wildlife rehabilitation facility and had brought Finnick home with him after the terrible famine crippled half the country. Chubby hands reached through the door, pulling the Cervid out. "Nick Nick!" Warbled the child gleefully.
"That's right, buddy!" Said the man, patting his son on the head while the toddler held the unfortunate Cervid. "Nick Nick's glad to see you too."
Finnick growled, snapping the man's hand as it reached down to pat his head, too. The man jerked his hand away in surprise. The child had begun to pull on the poor creature's tail now. The man took the Canis Cervid from the youngster and stood up. "Okay, we've gotta go to work now. See you soon."
He put Finnick in a dog cage in the bed of his truck. It was moments after the truck pulled out that that Finnick started to weasel out of his collar and work on prying open the cage door with his claws. Once the door came off the cage, Finnick jumped from the moving truck, escaping out into the woods and into his familiar freedom that he had longed to return to.
