Okay, I GOT IT!!!
The water rippled, small waves lapping at the pebbly shore. A girl, brown-blond hair in pigtails walked along the shore with her prize; The Staff. Her mom had said it was just a stick, but she knew better. She could
feel the authority this Staff had once had. And it wasn’t just authority; there was magic, too, which was made The Staff, and it
had to have belonged to some powerful enchantress. The girl twirled, smiling and whirling The Staff around in her hands. She and her family lived right next to the lake, so she could always come down here after her chores were done and her mom could just look out the kitchen window to see if she was okay. Moms — so over-protective! She shook her head at this foolishness of her mother’s and continued down a little ways, then turned back around and that way she had come, dancing all the while.
The wind picked up a little, to match the speed of her dancing, but she didn’t notice right away. Because what seven-year-old worries about these kinds of things? A tune popped into her head, and she started humming, not realizing that the waves were starting to swirl in a whirl-pool motion to the speed of her melody.
Glowing gold eyes watched her from the shadows, remembering a promise made long ago to always, always keep The Bearer safe. Unseen, the creature smiled a little, knowing what the girl would become.
All in good time, My Lady, they thought.
All in good time.I lost my muse in the middle of it, so this isn't actually what I meant to have happen originally, but here it is anyway!
Cliffhanger!
