It's home with me now, and I hope to keep it, if I can bring it back to good health.

The vet said it's about 2 and a half months old. I don't know if it's male or female yet (and the little child is sleeping so I don't want to bother it). The poor baby is sick, has a snotty nose and red eyes, and I got some antibiotics and something to put in its eyes (the vet also recommended I got some immune system meds to help it, but I couldn't afford that much at the moment). The vet said it should do well, though it might lose one of it's eyes as it's not looking very good already. I'm just scared because it's so tiny and I worry I might not know what to do?? The cat I already have is almost 11 years old, so it's been a long while since I've had to do anything with a kitten.. And it's so small it can fit in my one palm. ;; I hope the baby recovers.

Look at how smol it is.
And that sick little face;;;;

Hmm... I think he/she should be perfectly fine! I rescued three 3 week old kittens and their mother, and they were in pretty bad shape. One of them we thought had only one eye because it's eye was swollen shut and oozing green goo, but we gave him his meds and he got better. They were very tiny when we found them, and they could fit through the small holes in our metal fence very easily when they were about 4 weeks old.

As for the size, the kitten could be a bit stunted on his growth if he didn't have enough to eat etc... But really, it should be fine as long as you treat the kitten and make sure it gets the care it needs.

And where was he when you found him? I bet his mother and siblings were nearby.

Yeah I hope so!!
I'm a bit worried as I have something like a job in the mornings, and leaving the little one without my attention without around 6 hours is a bit scary, but I hope some other family members will be home for at least a fraction of that time so they can check in on it. It's left eye is in pretty bad shape, swollen shut, and when I manage to get it open for it's eyedrops, it looks all red inside so I don't know how that is going to go. But the other one can be opened if it wants to, so I don't think that will have problems. I'll keep putting the drops in both and hope for the best.

I found it outside, between a road and some tram tracks (a very bad place for a little one to be..), and I asked some of the neighbors and none admitted to having cats/kittens, so I really don't know. I did see 2 adult cats, but neither of them seemed interested in the lil one at all. And I've seen a mom cat looking for it's children, and those adults seemed nothing like that. I didn't see any other little ones either. So if they were near, they must have been in a yard, behind a fence or in some bushes or something, not out in the open like this one.

MAN i keep going from one stressful pet thing to another :-)
Frisk's mostly over her UTI! She's more regular in her litterbox and will hold her bladder downstairs instead of going on the laundry. But my sister's friend has come over for my graduation and thinks that outdoor cats are perfectly fine ;;) and I'm projecting when i say Frisk doesn't have the sense to not walk in front of a car ;;) and i'm keeping her from a 'full life' by not letting her off leash when we're outside ;;;)
So basically I'm super paranoid that she's gonna let Frisk out one day and she's gonna get out of the yard and disappear.

On a better note, i took the kid out to lunch on Friday! She was a demon on the way there but was content chilling on my lap watching birds while we ate! Here's the best pic I got without my face in it:

hi, i have a question regarding outdoor cats:
so i have an outdoor cat, not that i want her
to be, and i'd love to make her an indoor cat
but my family won't let me and considering
my mother considers the cat to be 'hers' she
is allowed to make the final decisions around
her - i was just wondering how you would go
about taking an outdoor cat in? because it's
so stressful that we let her outside - she doesn't
even have an ID collar, and until very very
recently we hadn't had her microchipped for
some bizarre reason.

you have to find something to keep the cat engaged while it's inside.
get her some toys, something to chase, play with, etc
give her treats when she plays with them
and talk to your family about the dangers that outdoor cats face
even if the cat itself has enough mind to not run under a driving car, many people don't care enough to watch out for small animals
And I mean, people don't usually purposely jump in front of cars either, but there's still many accidents that happen anyway. So educate your family on the dangers in the outside world, and educate yourself on how to entertain an indoor cat (google is amazing for this).

Well now Mimi is the only pet we have that can freely roam the house.
My dog died on friday at the age of two and tiki died in march.
It's been such a bad year but not for Mimi.
She's much more confident and she was happily trotting around the garden today.
I've still got my rabbit as well.
My doggie's death was sudden and horrific. I am grieving but it makes me smile to see Mimi so confident.

I have the same problem but it looks like my cat, Mimi, will stay and outdoor cat because she is out there most of the time.
if you want her to be an indoor cat I suggest a good discussion with your mother and maybe you'll convince her or she'll convince you.
Are you around the house a lot? It might be a good idea to figure out the times your family are in the house because a lonely cat will be stressed. She'll need attention and supervision- if your cat likes to be alone, make sure that there are a lot of entertaining toys and other things that will stimulate the natural instincts that a cat feels outdoors.
I'm not an expert but I hope this helps!! c:
