Why do you hoard those pets?

I have spider hoard (all spiders). it's unlimited, i'm at about 330 atm and my goal is at lest 1.000.000 (oh gosh)
i hoard them because they are the most unloved pets on cs and i want to show that even the unloved ones can find someone who loves them.
there's a second reason, too:
many people say "ewww, spiders are so ugly and creepy" and whatnot.
i want to say with this hoard, what the hoards name is : no prejudice.
just because someone looks unpretty, doesn't mean they're worthless.
also, i like the spider lines^^

there's also my still small unlimited Kintsukuroi dogs hoard (from march).
the group name is "kintsukuroi-beauty from pain".
i want to show mysrlf and everybody else who is having a bad time, that the pain eill end one day and we will be repaired. and that it's making us unique and beautiful.
that's probably my most important hoard, along with another endless hoard of me:

"all your colors make you beautiful".
which is standing for that everything that's making us who we are, is making us unique and beautiful and everyone is great in their own unique way.

Why do you hoard those pets?

Some of these aren't mega hoards yet, but they will be unlimited so I've just included them ;3;

I originally got one of these because for some reason it reminds me of my baby sister, I've not seen her in a few years due to difficulty with family, so right after I left I wanted to hoard these because of that, I name them after my friends wee baba's. I'm really hoping to get another 2 soon as a close friend of mine had a miscarriage with her twin boys. And for any of you that look in the group, ever, yes... One of my friends did name their kid Anakin from Star Wars, he has a younger brother named Hero too :')


I love alice in wonderland, and I just love this pet <3

I just really love this spider, I wish I'd made this hoard unlimited when they first came out instead of stopping at 20, so hard to find now


I love foxes, I love rats, this is the perfect creature


This one was kind of an accident, I was gonna stop at 20, that turned into 40, then 60, and so on ;3;

I love gem stones, this wee chick was just so cute, I picked it to be my gem hoard

To those with mega-hoards...
Why do you hoard those pets?
I've always struggled back and forth with rats. I had a hoard of black/grey rats during a period of time where I felt down a lot, but I lost touch when I started feeling better. I had an on-and-off VR rat hoard at one point, and it still exists somewhat, but I don't actively collect anymore. And my rat collection has turned more into a rat hoard since I seem have this inability to trade any of the cute critters away.
But I've held onto my PPS rat hoard c:. PPS rats are (in my opinion) the cutest pets here on CS and underrated much.They look fine without being dressed up or anything, and they always have amazing designs.Plus, for some odd reason, they remind me of my younger cousin XD. I wish they would make a UR PPS rat >.<

Long long time, yes xD it requires a lot of patience and never trading one away. I started in march 2010, a year after i joined C: So over 6 years now!

Why do you hoard those pets?

Hmm. Not all of my endless hoards are big enough that I'd call them mega-hoards, and I have some big ones that aren't endless, so I guess I'm gonna limit it to the 1k+ ones.


I have just over a thousand of this litter. I don't really know exactly what makes them so appealing in my eyes.
Maybe it's a combination of their species (I love the owls!), colour (red is my favourite colour) and markings (they look like fierce warriors). I just know that I was in love with them since the moment they reached their middle stage, and I've been endlessly hoarding them ever since.
They're just that cool.



With 5768 pets, the Bakery Division is currently my biggest hoard.
It contains any pet based on pastries that you could expect to find in a bakery, though over the years I left out some designs that I didn't like enough or that didn't look food-like enough to me.
I started this hoard back in 2011 following the release of Portal 2. I loved the first game and was pretty darn hyped about the sequel, and somehow ended up obsessed enough to base a hoard (several, actually...) on it.
The cake jokes may be unbelievably tiring by now, but hey, I do like cake. In fact, the Black Forest Cake from the first game is one of my fave cakes c:
I retired the hoard eventually because I lost my interest in it, but very recently decided to continue. I don't know, maybe I'm just being nostalgic, but I kind of miss accumulating insane amounts of pastry.



This cat has a very special place in my heart. It was the first pet I really obsessively hoarded.
Y'see, these lil' buddies were the first ever PPS cat on the current cat lines. So they were a novelty to me, with how adorable the kitten lines look and how simple, yet pretty this design itself is. Just look at the cute smile! And the pretty orange eyes!
I don't actually like Sushi, and don't care much for the rest of the litter, but these cats here are visually appealing, adorable and were extremely easy to get.
Not so much nowaways, but they were everywhere, haha. I'll stop at 2000 of them.



I love owls. I also love parrots. Well, I mean, I love birds in general, but owls and parrots are some of the coolest birds there are. So when the conure litter was released, predictably I was happy.
I decided I wanted to hoard two of the outcomes, and when I pondered overed what to name the hoard, I settled on "Tausend Sonnen Brennen Nur Für Dich" (a thousand suns are burning just for you) - a line taken from Spring, a song by Rammstein.
...Yes, that song is definitely not a happy one. No, in context it has nothing to do with the hoard.
I just felt reminded of suns when I looked at the owls (well, duh, Sun Conure outcome!), and subsequently that song line came to my mind. And if you don't know what a dark song it is, it sounds really pretty.
And, well, because the title has "thousand" in it, I figured 'why not'. 1000 owls it is. I still need 110.



Some of my more seemingly random hoards are Heart of the Sun, Beyond the Stars, and Requiem For the Light.
Each has a goal of 1000, and they are veeery loosely colour-based.
Heart of the Sun has a red-black-gold theme, Beyond the Stars has a brown-gold theme, and Requiem For the Light is all about blue and white.
They're a tribute to three factions from a story of mine, and the colours are the ones that those factions use to represent themselves. Not all pets that have the right colours end up being added to the hoard, though. I sort of just pick and choose whatever seems fitting to me.
So it's very hard to make out the theme unless you're actually me, or one of the maybe four people who know enough about the storyverse to guess the connection.
Beyond the Stars is also the reason why a certain cheesecake-based dog isn't found in my pastry hoard. It reminded me too much of one of my characters, so it fit in here much better c:

@DaDwarf - Your hoard...your toxic hoard... Oh my goodness that's just amazing! ;-; I have no words!

I have a daily hoard update since I won't have one tomorrow. Tomorrow is test day and so is Friday. It's just like me to panic.

Do you hoard based on rarity tag colors? If so, why do you find them so important to the hoard?

Would you give up an entire hoard simply because the rarities didn't match? Even if you completed it? If so, why? Do the pets really not matter if their rarity tags don't match their color schemes or don't match each other?

Nope, I hoard purely based off the pet design, not potential rarity or the tags. Besides, it's not hard to turn off if it ever did bother me c: Unmatching rarities do occassionaly frustrate me purely for the fact the rarer outcome is usually harder to get, so after I have a bunch of the more-common outcome(s) I remove them from my wishlist to focus on getting just the rarer one.
