That's insane! Nearly 2k dinos in possum's hoard alone, but there were a couple other dino hoarders too! There is at least one of that had 100 or so, and then myself with a small 20. How in the world are they not at least rare!?!??!? SO many people hoarded them on top of people buying the set! I am honestly shocked!

I'm shocked too, about the dinos. I found 'em everywhere, everyone seemed to have dinos. I just assumed they'd be rare so I treated 'em as such.

There is a good reason for this happening, and I can go into deep mathematical and statistical data to explain if anyone is interested, but the long story short of it is because CS's active user population has risen (aka the number of unique users on within the period before an account is deemed inactive so pet rarities within the inactive account are cancelled out of the overall total of pets online which causes flux in rarity), so it accommodates pets belonging in the right tags with the ratio Nick presented back in '09. More users being online within the time frame, more storepets available, means the ratio will still be at minimum 1:80 (1 pet for every 80 users) therefore the pet is still classed as a Very Rare. It is actually a relieving sight to see that the pet isn't rare because that means CS'S popularity has increased since the Dragon cat storepets came out. The information supporting this from basic observation is staggering because it helps illustrate how popular the site actually is.

However I do digress on the statistical marvel and wish to ask a question.
What is the reason for the suggestion of the new rarity tags and a new rarity system?

The reason why I ask is because, to be honest, I don't think that would work at all with making more sense with rarities and it can lead to making the system we have right now rendered entirely useless, to the point where so much information will be lost. To continue this, the rares list will be rendered invalid completely if a new rarity system is brought in because of how it is structured now, even though of pure speculation, and would cause chaos within the list trading community, this especially hurting hoarders of list pets. That is really scary when you think about it.

But I am really curious as to the reasoning behind this suggestion.

I love their design, its absolutely adorable. I'm a sucker for design, so if I see a pet I like a lot, I'm going to hoard it.

Just one, but I've got a few trades pending

I want to get to at least 20 as the milestone, but the hoard is infinite

Yes, this is one I will certainly overpay for. I have to, or I'll never get another.

I have a calico kitten named Regina. This hoard is basically a "tribute" of sorts to her.

Only for the rarer calicos. Other than that nope, a lot of 'em are pretty easy to get

Ughhh I have the overwhelming urge to continue my abandoned pastry hoard, but now I need to decide which pets from the past three years to add :'D
I went and added a lot to my wishlist, but on some I'm kind of torn.


Sure, burger buns are pastry, but I don't know if I should add this one to a hoard that has "Bakery Division" in its name.


I'll be honest I can't tell if these are meant to be cake, or if they're just rats with candles on them.


They're cookies and they're easy to get, but I don't like them, so I dunno if I'd rather add them and increase the size of my hoard, or leave them out because they're not my cup of tea.
I normally stick to only hoarding what I like, but I guess with their availability I'm tempted.

I don't think I'm going to add these, but uh yeah.
