I agree they are very cute, I just want hold it then poke it softly cx, I have seen a bird that kinda of like that but a lot different and a little bigger, they were in petsmart they kept coming to me and when my sister come they get scare, I almost touch it but my sister scare me when the bird was going to fly to my finger, Darn it sis! I will get you back cx, they look very chubby and cute :D

My golden fish kinda look like that but we aren't sure if it a male or female but they are best friend :) I can image them without eachother I mean they follow eachother 24 hours, Hehe they are so big now we can't put them in a 10 gallon anymore cx ah those days were the best until I trip and almost facepalm in the fish tank

Both of you guys shared my reaction when I first saw them! XD Because of their small size they are very nervous around humans. It doesn't help that Echo came from a bad home and Charlie and Claire were almost killed from being picked on so bad. They do come and eat our of your hand if you stay really still though. When I hatch out some babies next summer they should be friendlier. ^-^ A locally owned pet store in my area carries them sometimes. A lot of people breed then too, just not in my state.

Did you guys know you can actually eat Button Quail eggs? Like chickens, the girls lay an egg almost every day and in my opinion the eggs are better than chicken and duck eggs.

Yeah, I understand that! The quail eggs are actually almost 50% less eggy than chicken eggs! My favorite way to eat them is dropped into Ramen noodles. :3 They are so good! The only problem is that the eggs are maybe the size of a quarter. They look just like those little chocolate eggs you can get at Easter time!

In the best way I can say this.. Please don't get a breeding pair of cockatiels if you want them to be friendly, pet birds. Parrots will bond with their mate for life so they will always choose their mate over you, and can get very aggressive ( There are cases of the birds remaining tame, but it is unlikely especially with you not having any parrot experience ). Also parrot husbandry is very difficult and time consuming, someone who still goes to school could not do it.
It is best just to get one bird and see how that goes. They are a lot more demanding than you would think.

Hey there! Since I haven't posted in a while, I thought I would give a quick update; the Diamond Dove eggs have hatched! The older chick seems to be well fed and waddles all around the nest. The younger chick, however, jumped overboard and hit the ground. Though he seemed fine, there could've been some damage and along with being hatched on the same day as the older chick (supposed to be about 2 days apart) he did not make it. =(

They both make little chirping sounds. Charlie makes high pitched and fast "Pew pew pew" sounds when he finds a treat. He makes growling sounds, then makes a two syllable crow thing. The girls make more of a "cock a doodle doo" calls. Button Quail actually make over 50 distinct noises! You can look up Button Quail calls on Youtube. :3 I've held baby chickens, ducks, turkeys, finches, and a few other species. All of my friends know me as "The bird lady" so they invite me over to their friends and family to meet the babies.
