Snakekit was pretending to hunt a leaf, which was in his mind a delicious piece of prey. With a determine glare, he crouched low to the floor and was then surprised by one of his clanmates as he was just about to pounce on the 'prey'. He looked up to meet Forestfoot's gaze and he was a bit disappointed that she would interrupt him while he was hunting, though he didn't let it show. He did brighten up when she mentioned offering to help him learn to climb trees though. He nodded eagerly, forgetting about the leaf he was about to pounce on and only thinking about climbing trees and showing his mother what a good warrior he could be!

"Great!" She grinned, "follow me," Forestfoot then darted out of the dirt place tunnel. She waited patiently for the young kit to follow her out.

Snakekit was thrilled for the chance to be able to go outside of camp, but what if Dovestar caught him? He didn't want his apprentice ceremony to be pushed back a moon or any other form of punishment... He stared out of camp, pondering the thoughts. Should I? he wondered and decided to go for it. He pushed the awful feeling of disobedience aside. His clanmate offered it, so surely it was okay? He followed her out of camp, gaping at the height of the forest trees. "Whoa!" he exclaimed in shock. "The forest is so big!"

She chuckled, "yea, it really is. Today we'll start easy," Forestfoot mewed, padding over to a small tree. "First, show me how you climb a tree," she instructed.

Snakekit thought this would be very simple. He always climbed the small tree next to the nursery in camp, surely this large oak tree would be the same? He looked up, a bit nervous at how tall it was compared to him. He gulped and looked at Forestfoot and then nodded with determination. The kit unsheathed his small claws and dug them into the base of the tree. He then jumped onto it with his back claws and was about a tail-length up the tree. With his back claws dug deep into the trunk for support, he unhooked his front claws and dug them higher up in the tree, then did the same with his back. He repeated this process several times, and eventually he was a fourth of the way up the tree. He didn't dare look down.

The she cat smiled, "that's great for your first try! But the trick is to think like a squirrel." She scampered up the tree and around Snakekit, demonstrating.

Squirrelpaw let out a deep breath, wondering if she should run away like Mistpaw or stay in the Clan. She buried her head in her paws, her head buzzing like bees in their hive 'Once a kittypet, always a kitty-pet' a voice growled in her mind and she let out a hiss. 'This is stupid, if I ran away they'd accuse me of going back to my 'kitty-pet roots'' She thought, lashing her tail. 'A little exploring might help', She thought to herself and padded farther out into the forest
