Its just an idea, but what if Elise grabs Carl's wrist and tried to pull him away, but Carl ends up shooting her by accident (Not fatal, but unconscious for a bit after a moment, Carl maybe thinks she is dead or will be?). Then like Rick drags him out and back to camp. I could see the scene described like in depth and I have thoughts I could play out if it works xD.
